It's not even a spoiler really so I'll just tell you up front: about 99% of incidents where someone dies, they don't die. In fact they're not even particularly wounded for very long. That won't stop you from being subjected to so many heroic "sacrifice" moments anyway. Usually when you introduce an impossibly powerful character, you kill them off so that the stakes are higher and the protagonist needs to grow into that role. But what do you do when you have an impossibly strong father figure and also you're too chicken shit to kill such a character off? Well, I guess you just make him disappear for nearly the entire series, and then nerf him right at the end. Such a waste. What's that meme? Kid: Mom, I want Shanks!
