Ok, so, in Genesis 3:23-24 God kicks Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden and they have to roam and live off the land, etc

"23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side[e] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life."

Now, In Genesis 4:13-14, Cain's punishment is that he is kicked out...of the land...what does that mean? They're already forced to walk the land. How is Cain's punishment different from Adam's?

"13 Cain said to the Lord, My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me."

Its a translation issue. If you look at chapter 4, verses 9-14, it becomes a little more clear. Or check a different translation or the original Hebrew texts, God is referring to the ground, not a particular place.

God is telling Cain that the actual ground beneath him is cursed. That Cain will not experience fruitful harvests, so rather than being able to plant/harvest -> move on, as was the nomadic lifestyle of the time. He would have to wander about the land foraging for food instead of growing his own.

Hmm, interesting. I think I get it know. Thanks.

Ain't he the first son of literally the first humans? Who else is out there to kill him?

Cain was banished from the new land they settled on after Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden and basically became mortals

That's a good point. Now I'm wondering.

Everyone else that wasn't mentioned at the time like Cain's sister-wife (for argument's sake, let's assume that Cain and Abel were in their late teens or early 20s at this point, do you really think that Adam and Eve wouldn't have been fucking like jackrabbits and having a new child or two every year meaning that Cain would already have more than a dozen siblings other than Abel by then?).

Well, God said the child-bearing would be harsh, so that may have given them second thoughts from time to time.

Yeah, but still, not only would Cain be the older than anyone else, but he's being banished to krappier lands for murder (presumably mankind's first murder ever). Who would any of Adam and Eve's other offspring be out there?
