They've been filing this one for years. I don't really agree with patenting gameplay ideas, but it is what it is. It's why we never saw dozens of copies of the system after Shadow of Mordor even though it seemed like the most obvious thing in the world. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

What exactly is the nemesis system? Ive never played this game. It basically lets the game procedurally generate 'rivals' for you. If you are killed by an orc, they can show up later having been promoted, or if you kill an orc, they might actually survive but be disfigured and have a weakness to whatever maimed them, or learned to combat it because of it etc. It's a pretty cool system. IDK if I'd say the games otherwise are that great (they're fine, but they're just kind of standard open world stuff in a LotR setting otherwise) but that system was something great. Which makes it all the more of a shame its been patented. ... Copied to Clipboard!
