That seems pretty standard. You're interviewing with multiple people in their team.

2 years ago, I had a 5 hour interview at Amazon for a corporate finance manager position. I interviewed with like 6 people rotating between me and like 7 other candidates who were there at the same time as me, all in different rooms. There were two 30 min breaks. I didnt get the job but they actually offered me a different job that would require me to relocate to Seattle. I turned it down.

EDIT: One thing Ill give Amazon credit for, is that they actually update you quickly on your status as to whether you got the job or not. They had informed me within like 48 hours.

i dunno about this guys. id have to take a day off work for this, and endure a deluge of questions and trying to act like a dancing monkey begging for change for 3 hours instead of the usual 30 minutes or whatever. and then what. to not get the job?

doesn't help that this email i got for it wasn't addressed to me :/

I had to do a four hour interview once. It was divided into segments with multiple people. I didn't get the job.
What in the fuck. These jobs better be offering a six figure salary

This shit sounds like lazy companies that don't care enough to have multiple interviews and want to do it all at once

Tell me about your last job.
Now tell me about your last job in reverse.
Compare your last job with the job before that, then write an essay about a job's role in society.
Pee in this cup. Now, sit here, drink this coffee, then pee in it again.
Take a five minute break.
Now, look at this menu. If you worked here, what would you order?
Now, call this place and order the opposite.
Finally, please sit here, stare at the wall, and use this abacus to create a schedule for next week.

I remember interviewing at one place that was like a damn full work day. In fairness, I think a lot of that was commuting, and they took me out to dinner at the end, but man.

Generally when you have a series of interviews like that it's either because there are a couple of different positions that you qualify for, or they're trying to catch you lying. After your interview, those six people are going to get together in a room and discuss your answers and come to a consensus about whether you're qualified or not. Expect to be interviewed by a range of people, from managers to potential coworkers, who will each have their own set of questions to ask that are relevant to their expertise

I mean, it's standard in my profession to have a whole day for an interview process even for entry level positions.

Two days for a senior leadership position is probably lighter than some.

I currently took the same job as my previous but obviously a different company.

My other one is a large corp that is known to be progressive and changing the industry: they had a phone screening, in person interview with two managers, a phone interview with an area manager, and a video recording. It was stupid because the first manager said shed love to hire me. I eventually got the job but requiring us all to go through the process just because its what they do was a waste of everyones time, including those others who werent going to get the position over me.

Fast forward to my current position with a very hated company in the same industry, I went in for the interview and the hiring manager asked me one question: I pulled a baller response out of my ass and he goes, that is the best answer Ive ever heard and dont feel like wasting your time, you have the job barring the documentation and verification. He asked me a few general questions about availability and schedule but otherwise it was under 5mins.

I walked in expecting at least 30mins. I was literally laughing on the way out around the people that worked there knowing I for the job and them having greeted me less than 10mins prior. The job sucks as but it pays decently for a rural area with low cost of living, and I basically do what I want cuz the manager knows I do my shit. Customers make it miserable though.

That's why many interview processes involve actually doing the job and being assessed on that too.

in big tech, this sounds about right if not a little on the low side

for my current fortune 50 non-tech job it was only a phone interview (30mins), takehome (30mins), in person (1 hr?)

I'd pass if it were me. I guess it depends at what level position you are interviewing for though.

I've had some long ones but they included in-basket exercises to see how I would do in the position.
