You literally have 800+ Monsters to collect and train. Even if you only have 6 slots that's 898 6 = 5388 different combinations altogether.

The calculation for team members is 896^6. You multiply by 896 for every single slot, not just merely multiply by six.

Yeah I especially like how in ORAS for example I can catch a Wingull on almost every route in the game. Great variety that really keeps me playing.

More variety makes for more replayability. All Pokemon games should have that level of variety. I should not come across a fucking Wingull or Zigzagoon on half the routes in the game.

I think most modern roguelikes are much more replay-able. Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Slay the Spire, Hades all have way more replay value, imo.

I know they aren't series like you specified in the topic title, but *shrug*

Different Pokemon teams doesn't really add that much replay value though, since most "gamers" play Pokemon in the exact same way.

The replay value is poop because it's so formulaic. Like, I'd rather replay a Dragon Quest game, and that's saying something.

I played the hell out of gen1 and gen1 (blue and gold) and then set the series down for a spell. Picked up 5th gen (Black) and I barely made it past the second gym before being bored because it was so same-y.

Who wants to replay a game that is so utterly trivial to beat that the only way to make it actually difficult is to do extremely absurd challenge runs like No-Hit, One Bad Pokemen Only, ect.

Variety is pointless unless it's new and evocative or a different kind of challenge. Otherwise you're not being entertained by the variety of the game, you're being entertained by the common familiarity of it.
