I dont we should entrain zack snider idea of leading dc's most recognizable team of all time. You can see how little he cared to adapt the source material like marvel does and went out of his way to bash die hard batman fans by introducing this killing batman and shit on the lefacy of every dc superhero that was in that movie. No one ask him to make this edgy isolitionist superman who view humans as nothing more than eyesore. He didnt even want to help people and it really shows in bvs for some really. Taking off like a pussy after witnessing an explosion that takes all the lives around him. He didnt use his speeding bullet speed because god knows why maybe he was too fed up with human and decided to adopt this black suit similar to zod was and continuing the krypton tradition to teraform this planet into that of krypton one day

In the comics the black suit is worn by Supes in Reign of the Supermen when he comes back after his death at the hands of Doomsday - it's meant to have more recovery powers or something (but really it was probably just 90s edginess).
