He was anti talk show, anti media, anti hollywood, that's why it was awesome. It was the only place the counter culture could go late at night in the cable TV era. And the general "know" if you listen to any comedian's podcast, is that Letterman was the most real and genuine talk show host during his run. And I'd imagine if he was giving a millionaire super model a hard time, they probably deserved it.
