I don't understand music nerds. It's one of the cooler things to be a nerd about but listening to three albums a day, and a different one each time, sounds so exhausting to me. Like if you can do it more power to you but when I see this stuff it always comes off to me like some kind of competition rather than something you'd do for the intrinsic enjoyment

I dont get other peoples hobbies tbh. Like, idk, running for fun

i listen to music all day at work, usually its like 6-8 albums; then I make playlists and listen to those playlists in the evening with my wife while cooking or playing games or whatever

i like music. obviously not everything is going to be life changing but I come across a lot of great new artists doing this

then, in non-covid times, wed go to a ton of concerts and festivals and discover more new music or see those up-and-coming bands I might have overlooked

Lots of people like music, it just sounded like a lot to me. It helps that it's a passive activity, or can be. I've heard some people say they don't like to multitask when they listen to new albums so I wasn't sure if that was your case, makes more sense if you're just doing it while working. I always think to myself I should listen to more albums while at work but I don't like to have it broken up by impromptu meetings and I never know when those might come up

*tracking this topic*

Spotify's Discover Weekly playlist doesn't ever give me music from 2021, so hopefully this topic can give me a little bit of a hand.

I've noticed that you've already listened to some of the albums I've heard this year that I really enjoyed (Lucero, Arlo Parks, Django Django, Madlib). You could also give the new Steven Wilson album (The Future Bites) and Ds Mortal album (Miami Beach Witches) a try.

I hate how whenever I see a band like this I have to first to a little sleuthing to make sure they arent racist/nazis

i dig the descriptors of this so this will be on my radar

Technical death metal
deathcore

That said Im listening and it seems like its much more tech death than core... almost proggy?, not bad at all

also theyre allowed on encyclopedia metallum so my ruling is: theyre legit

Typically, that is how I feel about tech death and deathcore, but I can enjoy a good mix of each.

Can't wait for the wall flag of that album to stop being out of stock.

you'd think it would be the other way around. i don't know why it wasn't.
