Not true. It probably matters to the people that lost their jobs, and probably their house. Possibly their family. Back then (and even now), many people were disowned from their family for being gay. Just because its better now doesnt mean that kicking people out for being gay didnt matter. It does. You can defend the homophobic rule all you want. Its still a bad rule that shouldnt have even existed...

I though you said you were early 40s or something. And 10 years isnt that much... And it literally wasnt a good rule, still. Because its still meant hiding. We already do had to do that. This rule wasnt any better. Probably worse since it made it out job to hide our sexuality...

It wasn't a good rule but it was better than the rule before it. Also 10 years is a lot when I'm attending gay organized parties aboard the USS Midway in support of a much needed change and the "don't ask, don't tell" (while not perfect) was campaigned by the gay community at the time while you were in high school.

The rule before it was they werent allowed. And the new rule is they still arent allowed because they still need to hide it. Nothing really changed except making hiding it their job. They could still get in trouble for it. They both sucked. And 10 years is not that much... and in high school, I could also in protest if I wanted to. Before my time my ass...

Also, DADT was started in 1993. Which means the rallies for not were before that. So how were you when you went to these rallies?
