I'm on episode 3, and I'm curious.

Not as good? But that said, Death Stranding has a good control scheme in the vein of MGSV, even if most of its (and MGSV's, I guess) missions are time-wasting fetchquesty stuff.

different kind of game with different kind of aim and focus. I enjoyed it a lot but mgs 1-3 and 5 I enjoyed varying degrees more

I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth

I love MGS

But haven't really worked up the desire to see Death Stranding yet - me and Kojima kinda have been on a break ever since MGSV happened. I've only had these weird, strange feelings that maybe I don't wanna see Mr. Kojima anymore after that :^(

I think I'd rather keep my time spent with Kojibear in the form of a beautiful memory

Probably something like 2 > 3 > Death Stranding > 1 > 4 > 5 > PW

MGS is one of my favorite series.

thanks for the answers.

is it really worth exploring?

outside of items to deliver/resources, I haven't seen much incentive.

Part of the fun exploring in DS is being able to build constructs to make getting around easier. You can create bridges to span canyons, improve roads for vehicles, create ziplines to avoid BT enemy areas and get up/down mountains, and other useful things (battery chargers, timefall-repairing shelters, etc.). If you find the world boring, though, you probably won't wring much enjoyment out of it by making stuff.

I mean more like, I can understand building better/more convenient routes, but is there any real reason to travel off of the beaten path?

outside of BTs, resources, packages, the world seems pretty empty. there are some nice sights, but that's about it.

using BotW as an example since it was posted earlier in the topic, you can discover armor, challenges, shrines, new enemies, etc.

edit: I'm not criticizing DS, or anything, but I haven't seen anything of its open-world to add anything outside of routes or deliveries.

Better than PW, worse than the rest. Still a phenomenal game and the fact that it was made in 4 years is fucking insane. No other dev could do something like that especially considering the circumstances.

I feel you.

playing through this game, and I feel like a parasite - people spent their resources making roads, and I'm just taking advantage of all of that and not adding anything on my end.

hey now. that's part of the fun. I spent tons of hours and material pumping highways up specifically to help complete newbs, because I'd have wanted that for myself if possible

as for ranking

mgs2 >= 5 > death stranding > the 90% of 4 i played > 3 > 1

Snake Eater was my favorite MGS and I'd put DS on its level. Not so much story or ending wise, but the mechanical design, locomotion and control scheme are top notch.

I tried adding stuff to make the road, but there weren't enough ceramics(?) around, and I didn't feel like hunting them down.

and I used the motorcycle thing on an actual highway, and idk if I would have hunted down all of the materials for that.
