don't see a lot of people talking about the actual logistics of getting there in the first place.
I imagine it's going to be like... a lot of the shit they need to get set up gets sent over first. And then maybe shipments of food are sent on the projected flight path for the mission over several months, staggered so that the astronauts will pick up the food every month or two and have enough to last until they pick up the next box. --- FFXIV: Lucius Hexenseele (Brynhildr) | RS3: UltimaSuende . 99 WC/Fish/Cook/Fletch/Div/Mining/Smithing/Thieving/Crafting/RC https://letterboxd.com/BMovieBro/ ... It's a 10-month trip, so it would mostly be really fucking boring. I remember someone on Twitter once saying that the crews needed to be single-gender so there wouldn't be any hanky-panky, and one of the replies was "You wanna tell him, or should I?" ^_^ --- "Two things only the greatest fools do. I think that traveling to Mars would be based on the gravitational pull of the planet. Basically, we wouldnt travel there using thrust power from the engines, so it would make it really hard to get them supplies and they would probably be stuck there for a long time. We would have to wait for conditions to be perfect.

Oh I never saw the Martian >_>
@ImAMarvel Do you have any idea what sort of food they'd be able to grow? I can't imagine... having a garden capable of sustaining a handful of people over a longer amount of time. Water I can understand. --- FFXIV: Lucius Hexenseele (Brynhildr) | RS3: UltimaSuende . 99 WC/Fish/Cook/Fletch/Div/Mining/Smithing/Thieving/Crafting/RC https://letterboxd.com/BMovieBro/ ... I won't pretend to have the expertise to have any idea.
If I had to give some kind of idea, I'd imagine initially trying setting up a semi-self sufficient space station in orbit. Built to act as a supply depot for the colonization efforts on the planet. ... Copied to Clipboard!

There is a good show on Netflix aboit the first manned voyage to Mars. Name is "Away"
Sadly it had its later seasons canceled. The makers planned for 3 seasons but netflix only gave them one.... I think it was a victim of the pandemic ravaging the industry. If not for covid the show might habe survived. Season 1 kinda has a complete story sort-of though. Well almost. But it also left room for more that never came ... Copied to Clipboard!

There's another docuseries that I've never seen anyone talk about just called "Mars" that's about exactly this and it's pretty good. It's just six episodes too. It's on Netflix Thanks. Sounds interesting. I'll check it out ... Copied to Clipboard!
