Its not so much about contempt for the individual, but more like, their posts are so terrible they raise my blood pressure.

the people who belittle you for blocking are the exact people who deserve to be blocked. it's just another form of abuse.

and i say this as someone who only barley uses the feature myself.

the staff has made it perfectly clear that they're going to keep coddling the assholes. but they're at least willing to give you a tool to do their job for yourself. there's no shame in using it.

It is. But I dont come on here to find a path to enlightenment and spiritual betterment. Usually I come on here cuz Im bored or stressed already and need a distraction.

Besides, I think some people are so harsh and grating, because it lowers their own blood pressure to take out toxicity on others. Which is cool if thats how you get your rocks off, but dont involve me in it.

Your sanity should be at a net neutral when you come here, and when you leave here. No one here matters, and nothing that happens here matters. I'm not saying don't block people, you do you. I'm saying no one/nothing here should really have a significant effect on you either way. >.>

Pretty much this.

The ignore/block feature is the only method of quality control we have on these boards when the mods and admins willfully allow some of the worst people to not only continue posting, but actively recruit them into their ranks. (Which is why it's tragic we can't at least ignore mods/admins, though at least they can be "tagged accordingly" I guess.)
