Every time I read something about Dolly Parton I learn another way she's amazing.

I mean you can't go to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge without seeing Dolly ads and merch everywhere, the whole area is basically a giant shrine for her. A statue is nothing compared to that lol.

I'm not saying she doesn't deserve it, I'm just saying it's weird that she doesn't want a statue but she has no problem having an entire metro area pretty much dedicated to her at every turn including an entire theme park.

I didn't mean for that to sound like I was being negative to her role. I love that she did that in fact. I don't know anyone else that would have done something like that in a children's Christmas movie at that.

But she wasn't really a prostitute in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas was she? I thought she was the madame or whatever, not a worker.

There should be no statues or heroes for the most part. Unless they were truly amazing people who advanced humanity's chances of success considerably, but even then we should just celebrate all humans.

Indeed, that's why I think there should be no statues or heroes for the most part :) Fortunately the Jesus's or Budda's amongst us will be content with just changing the world rather than being the face of it :)

Well it came from her production company and it was a story of her childhood. And I guess she did meet a prostitute at a young age who was really nice to her.

Dolly Parton reminds me of Platos concept of the philosopher king- someone who promotes wisdom and justice, although they are content to lead a simple life. Those people should rule, but it would probably not be a good fit for them, considering their ideals.
