The resolution, adopted Tuesday night, will allow for multifamily housing on lots that currently are zoned for only one home. Opponents of single-family zoning say it was used to exclude people of color from moving into certain neighborhoods. The resolution will go into effect in December 2022. Should be good news. No. It means that you can't have a residential zone be only for single family houses. If someone buys a lot and wants to build something for more than one family, they can. Multi-unit buildings are either rentals, or condos (or duplexes, which are just miniature condos). All this does is move "exploitation" elsewhere, and obfuscate it slightly better.
