After watching a ton of Pokemon Season 1 marathons on Twitch about a year or so ago I have concluded that if you just consider Pokemon a comedy it is a great anime.

I still highly enjoy the original Kanto saga up through Hoenn.
Around the 10th season when Dawn debuted is where the decline started. X&Y perked it back up, but Sun & Moon brought it back down especially with the new art style. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Rewatching the early stuff when I was like 20 showed me how bad it was. I'm not really into anime but it was just so formulaic and repetitive. Very few episodes broke the mold and those were some of the best ones.
