so im really not sure if you're disingenuous here or you're just ignorant, but Pepe Le Pew is problematic because the entire point of his character is that he forces himself upon females after being rejected. Bugs Bunny isn't quite the same. like, at all.

The director should maybe keep an eye on where the characters are currently instead of pointing out how problematic depictions from decades ago were. That goes for Lola Bunny too.

Of course I'm not actually calling for Bugs to be canceled. I just think the "product of their time" / "moved on from" argument should be applied to Pepe Le Pew as well. I think Bugs has imagery that is just as harmful if not worse.

They have backed off from that in recent years / decades. He's made several appearances which are free of those inferences. I think it's a bit unfair to hold him to the standard of claiming that he's an inherently rapey character. James Bond used to slap women around and once forcibly kissed a lesbian until she turned straight. I don't see too many people calling for his cancellation. (There have been a few.)

If characters aren't allowed to evolve, then we're left with that old adage of throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
