It doesn't really affect me. I want a XSX eventually anyway, mostly as a backwards compatible machine. That's the one thing I really like about Microsoft is the amount of effort into bc.

I'll be shocked if something as big as The Elder Scrolls VI doesn't find its way on the PS5 eventually even if it is a X Sex exclusive initially.

On an unrelated note is the Boner the worst system ever in terms of exclusives? There is literally zero reason to own one if you have a PS4. I've had one since day one and the only games I played there were Halo 5, Gears 4, 5, Sunset Overdrive, some Forza games, Dead Rising 3 and Quantum Break or something. All those games were 6.5/10 games at best.

I'm guessing ES6 will be at least 3 years after Starfield, though I guess that's possibly untrue. Starfield 2022 and ES6 2025, being optimistic?

Master Chief Collection eventually got good and Rare Replay is pretty neat.

This is about delivering great exclusive games for you [Xbox customers] that ship on platforms where Game Pass exists.

So unless PS gets Game Pass I don't think you'll be getting any Zenimax games that don't already have contractual obligations

I could totally see Microsoft ordering some original IPs from Bethesda to make exclusive, but new entries in existing franchises being exclusive doesnt seem likely. Timed, maybe.

Wasteland 3 could have been in development for PS4 before inXile got purchased

they don't view Nintendo as direct competition either so they are more lax with them, if you want to bring up more exceptions to the rules for Nintendo

Both Wasteland 3 AND Psychonauts were crowdfunded on Fig, where non-exclusivity was already promised.

PR notwithstanding, you can get away with canceling certain platforms because we got bought on Kickstarter, but Fig is specifically an investment, I imagine nobody involved had/has the appetite to fuck with that, particularly with no upside.

Okay, those are fair points. Im still gonna point to Minecraft as an example where Microsoft could have made the spin-off exclusive and chose not to as evidence that its possible theyll do the same for Bethesdas existing franchises though.

I could see myself getting something like a Series S in a few years as a gamepass machine, specifically for exclusives I've missed out on over the years of never owning an Xbox console. I don't do PC gaming so that's the reasonable compromise.
