"The Rape of Wonder Woman" is an unreleased comic book story written by famed Scottish writer Mark Millar, mostly known for his works at Fleetway, DC, and Marvel. These include Wanted, Kick-Ass , Superman: Red Son, Ultimates, and X-Men: Old Man Logan (which would later be loosely adapted into the film Logan )
Millar's body of work in the comic book industry is usually a subject for controversy, since most of his writings are known to be laden not only with political connotations but also gruesome displays of graphical violence. Such examples include scenes in Kick-Ass 2 where the villain known as Motherfucker kills a bunch of kids before he heads out to rape Kick-Ass' alleged girlfriend, and Bruce Banner/The Hulk mating with She-Hulk (his cousin) to create an army of Hulks.
During a talk that allegedly took place on a thread in his own Millarworld forums, Millar stated:
"I pitched this to DC for a laugh years back. The idea was that, like 'Death of Superman', we had 'Rape of Wonder Woman'; a twenty-two page rape scene that opened up into a gatefold at the end just like Superman did."
The comic's idea surfaced around 1993, the year of the mentioned Death of Superman arc as well as the Batman arc Knightfall where the Caped Crusader got his spine broken by Bane and is forced to give the Batman identity to violent anti-hero Azrael as he recovers. Despite Millar saying that the story was just a joke he had made, he mentioned the fact that DC Comics was actually considering publishing the story and already had an artist draw a sketch for the comic's first page.
This was meant to be DC's way of exploring a state of weakness to Wonder Woman in a similar vein to the previously Superman and Batman stories; with the comic starting with Wonder Woman being violated in public. However, the increase of rape allegations in the media at the time and a lot of complaints in both DC's writing and art departments lead to the comic's quick cancellation.

It would have been a tryhard thing to do. Most of the major DC heroes had some sort of major tribulation that they went through in the early-mid 90s thanks to the Death of Superman's success. What they settled on - Wonder Woman losing her title and costume - worked fine.

I don't really follow DC heroes that much, but doesn't Wonder Woman have superhuman strength, speed and agility? The idea of someone with super powers being raped seems kind of far fetched. Definitely glad they didn't go through with it.

I wouldnt say the worst, but making him the final big bad of the last major arc over the already established Perpetua was beyond stupid.

Miller relied on political commentary and character deconstruction to drive his stories the way he wanted. He's done provacative stuff but this idea's just straight up tasteless to his standard.

He wrote a comic about a female superhero who failed and was repeatedly raped by everyone until she was broken from all the rape and became a hooker.

One of the rapists was the World Martial Arts Tournament ring annoucer.

And this wasn't conceptual as a joke, he actually made it.

A big part of her initial origin was a weakness to being tied up. She would lose her powers or go into a trance. Bondage was a major theme early on, her creator had some interesting views on relationships...

DC still references it occasionally, but for the most part, it's not part of the character anymore.

Yeah it was actually comical how often WW used to be tied up by her own lasso which somehow took away all her powers. You'd think she'd stop bringing it.

I honestly think it was just a more simple time. People seeing it as BDSM is a modern interpretation.

That's actually pretty interesting (albeit stupid for a hero that carries a rope). I guess that's what the rape script was based on then.
