But he got confirmed as an assist trophy pretty early on, and then even after that got a deluxe Mii costume, so fans know that's a pretty concrete fate for him for now. Dark Samus was an assist trophy and is now a character, ditto with Isabelle from Animal Crossing, hell wasn't Little Mac a trophy back in Brawl? Or does that rule apply to "same game", i.e. you can't be an assist Trophy in Ultimate and made a playable character in Ultimate - it'd have to be in a sequel? Yeah, that rule usually applies for the same game that they are an AT in.
