Hey I am trying to figure out if I am gonna get this new 1400 stimulus check. I got the last 2 so I thought I qualify for this one also. I am on social security disability so income amount made wouldn't be something determining it. Been checking bank but nothing yet. Also my mom is on social security retirement and is waiting for the check as she got the last 2 too. So anyone here on social security got the stimulus check 1400? I am holding out hope

Yeah I was thinking that because the first 1200 one took a couple months after they were originally sent out for us both to get it into bank account. Hopefully it won't take that long again though Haha

@EnvoyOfTheLight

Well at least I feel better knowing I qualify for this one too. I was worried because I thought maybe this one was only given out to people who filed income taxes in the recent couple years.

So reading articles it seems social security people will be getting the check later than the first batch. Maybe when they start the second batch? I remember the first 1200 check we got ours a couple months after it all started going out. Let's hope it's not too long right?

Both of my parents haven't gotten theirs yet, along with my uncle, so there are those who are still waiting also.

Hey anyone know why my social security disability benefits are lower amount monthly than a lot of people i talk to? I get like 600$ a month. A little less maybe. But others i talk to receive over 800 dollars to even over a thousand dollars a month. I kinda wanna discuss it with someone at their office but i don't wanna seem like I'm complaining.

Isn't it a thing each state decides or something? I get like $750. Michigan

It all depends on the people that you live with, whether they are currently working or retired, whether some is on disability theirselves etc. The extra money some get is intended to help with the bills in the house. Also, you will get a little bit more if you are paying for your own food and whatnot. (They usually ask this question when you first apply for benefits, so if you actually are buying your own food then you would have to schedule an appointment and update them on your situation).

@MadDewg not sure really. It might be because my mom gets social security retirement (which also seems low at like $1300 a month when she worked for like 45 years) and we kinda both pay for this apartment. We used to live in here together but many years back she moved into her boyfriends apartment (which is in this same Complex) but she still handles the bills for this apartment since I'm not good at keeping track of paying stuff. So i live here alone but it's still both our place. Maybe social security is taking into consideration that she has the income from them also and basing mine on how much i should be paying for things. Social security is great but sometimes i feel like they low ball people. Especially for someone like my mom who retired and gets 1300 a month. You'd think for a person who worked all their lives and gave the government tons of money in taxes that they'd better take care of their seniors

my grandfather needed help. it doesn't list availability. if see payment not available it's probably normal (another agency gives the information to the IRS to send it out).

Thats what happened to me too. The site said payment information unavailable. Which for some people would make them think they were not gonna receive anything.

"The delay in delivering stimulus payments to Social Security recipients and others on government assistance has drawn attention from lawmakers. On Monday, members of the House Ways & Means Committee wrote to IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig and Social Security Administration Commissioner Andrew M. Saul to express concern and demand an update on the delivery of checks to these groups by Friday."

This was posted today.

Looks like it could still take some time for it all to get fully resolved.

if you're a dependant and on ssi, the only thing that matters is whether you have a job or not? i just assumed being on ssi while being a dependant invalidates you even if you're working

i don't have a job so i was obviously not getting one, but i didn't think that i could get a stimulus if i did have a job while on ssi

@anttttt I'd be happy if i was able to boost mine up to your 794 amount. I think i get like 580 a month. Like i said maybe its due to my mom having social security retirement and technically we both still pay for the bills of this apartment. I dont know if I'd get more if it was simply my place without my mom being attached to it. But then again i couldn't afford the rent if i paid alone.

So you think you'll be getting the stimulus sometimes soon?

I personally think we should get it last btw. We weren't as impact by the virus because our income never stopped. Im not even completely sure why we get it at all. But I'm not complaining. I need it to get some hobbies that help with depression. If I do a garden with some the money, a lot more than just me will benefit off it.

$580 a month?

That's so horrible.

You must be considered an essential person for that low of an amount.

You honestly might want to look into this if you're not the caretaker of your mother and do indeed live on your own.

@Steffenfield yes i feel the same way. I could understand if my mom was working and making a lot of money that mine would be lower, but she gets retirement social security every month as her only income. Thats why i say i feel like social security low balls some people, like my mom gets 1300 something a month, you'd think the government would better take care of their seniors who most have worked all their lives and gave countless money to the government in taxes

probably not considering i don't have a job (never had one either) but i'd be super happy if i got one anyways

the government hasn't actually asked for any proof that i pay rent and food and stuff so i feel like a lot of bad faith actors will just lie. did you directly tell the government that you pay these bills? did you mention how much you pay in bills? i had to mention that i pay around $400 on things before groceries come into play
i also had to specify that my cp limits my job potential and mention the struggles i have (making food, cleaning certain parts of my body, being barely able to lift, etc).

also totally offtopic: my dream job is to be a streamer for other disabled gamers to look up to and chat with

@anttttt that's pretty cool dude, you should follow that dream. Do you ever stream anything yet? Its hard for most people to become really popular as a game streamer, but i think you wanting to share about your disability and have others who feek the same get support is a good vision.

But yeah about telling the government how much i pay for things, i think social security does a yearly check into this stuff. My mom handles the questions though, she can show anything they wanna see like a rent statement or other bills we pay. This really only happens once a year i think. And well you not working shouldn't deny you from getting the stimulus. Did you get the last 2? Me and my mom got them both and if you got those 2 then you should be good for this one

"Because SSA has inexplicably not sent the necessary payment files to the Internal Revenue Service, tens of millions of beneficiaries have yet to receive their desperately needed EIPs," according to Chairman Richard Neal, the Massachusetts Democrat, and oversight subcommittee chairman Bill Pascrell Jr., the New Jersey Democrat and others.

Wednesday's letter followed another scathing commentary Monday when Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee criticized both the commissioners of the IRS and the Social Security Administration about the handling of the latest stimulus rollout."

Posted today.

With some hope the IRS will soon have an update on their website over this, possibly as early as tomorrow.
