Way off-topic but I actually went to that nearby Nike Clearance store today and found two awesome pairs of athletic shorts for me and leggings for my gf at great prices (cheaper than I'd ever seen Nike stuff before). Thanks for the tip, @ShatteredElysium !

20 years strong! As far as online communities go, we're pretty damn unique.

Also, I could immediately see how savvy individuals could use this store as a profitable side hustle. I saw shoes for $30. Granted, they looked lame compared to the authentic Jordans people fight over, but $30 for new Nikes made me do a serious double-take considering this is a brand I've always associated as being stupidly expensive.

In the last 31 days I've sold $14500 worth of shoes for ~$3k profit after shipping / ebay fees etc. I basically swing by the store for 30-60 mins every 2-3 days.

Edit: Slightly misleading as the stimulus boostes sales a ton and I did increase my overall stock level. Typically I was making $1700-2000 a month from it before that point

I hustle and flip, but never for that much

its funny how all of the skills I've gained as an adult, OTHER than retail, are considered side hustles. I guess if you put a bunch of sides together, you make a whole?

maybe

Oh geez

So I wanted to research the STUFF a bit more before I talked about it

So the guys above me want to start Adding on crap to the customer's orders with the MOST minimal of notice to them

like

Adding a warranty and just simply saying "Does this look okay?"

or "This is your total with the warranty"

Its a common rule that the customer is not listening to you. Thats why you have to pitch several times, to snap them out of their daze and make them pay attention to you.
This is exploiting that. I Thought MY Higher ups were making this up, but apparently they cleared it with Corporate "as long as you give them SOME warning". And I heard it mentioned this was gonna be a more widespread tactic

people have been FIRED for this
there was a guy who got fired for adding 1 dollar bags without telling people. THIS IS ALMOST THE SAME THING

I have said this many times, but I know the stories, I've been a customer too, sometimes (alot of times) the company is crap. I tried my hardest to make my store a really cool one. Even when I started in a lowly position. The customers go there for fun. They trust you and you have to build that trust. Then maybe you can start suggesting things and they'll listen to you.

this completely betrays that

this is gonna make people come back and do more returns and be angry. This is gonna BREAK trusts more than ever.

not only that, they are raising the required numbers by like, double. They are sort of "FORCING" us to do this and other stores are complying no problem.

Another thing thats going on is MY boss stepped down. I had to take his place for a few weeks (which I have never actually been trained for), but yea, its looking like I might get promoted again. I won't be at the store anymore. I already had my fill of things, but I don't want to do this.

So basically I'm at a crossroads. People say you don't like your job and you put up with it. Been like that for decades, hell, probably centuries, what am I talkin about. I make a DECENT wage, definitely more than I was, but...I just don't want to do this any more. And now I'm being sucked further in. My team is now only like 3 or 4 people. we used to be 10. But Corporate keeps screwing us and people bailed. Its probably my time now

Ah. So we finally received an update. And yes, corporate are always wankers with stuff like that because the customer has had some notice so it should be fine. It never is though so completely understandable why it could be time to leave.

Should butter the floor before you go though

This is riskier but you could stay, stand your ground, and then either go down with the ship and get severance or get fired for said ground-standing and turn whistleblower, which will probably get you other job offers or at least some publicity you could direct towards your passion of pixel art <_<

This is a good thing you can take advantage of. When applying to a new job you can use this higher management position as some serious experience. It might be worth doing a few weeks at the promoted position before leaving too.

I have heard people say that

but like

I don't think "Hey so like, they spent a shit load of time training me up to ensure I was up to speed but then I fucking dipped cause I didn't want to do it, wasting their time" sounds very good to other companies

Pun, dude.

You fucking lie and say you've been in that position for a long time.

This company does not care about you, and the next one won't. They just want the best person to chase that dangling carrot. Get the fuck out of there man.

You could always spin it as they were trying to implement very anti-consumer practices and you hold customer service to one of you highest standards. Obviously this might not necessarily be a good thing in American where corporations seem to pride themselves on how badly they can fuck over consumers and employees.

Yeah that first statement is not going to be looked at as a positive in any way.

It literally does sound good though. They are hiring you for your growth and experience, and you have plenty of loyalty to show for too if they really care about that (which they don't). Any company would love to have you do what you did for Gamestop.

They already do that in stores by me for what it's worth. Although it was a store that was closing down and labelled as no returns because of that fact so there may have been more of a fuck it factor to it. But yeah, the 3 times I bought stuff from that store they added the warranty without me asking or even mentioning they did it. I had to ask them to remove it all 3 times and it was only because I noticed it. Could easily see how it could go unnoticed
