Anyone who's relatively famous probably has a million and one interactions with people constantly, be it fans or colleagues, be it in person or through social media. And if they're a traveling entertainer that's hopping from town to town, those interactions are only going to be more fleeting to that person. I really can't imagine most famous people view brief fleeting interactions with fans as these deep, meaningful relationships. Like, if some girl has a few interactions with a celebrity over Twitter or Instagram or whatever, then later meets said celebrity in person and offers herself up for sex in a matter of hours, was that every really some profound relationship between the two? Someone else talked in great length about the "celebrity-fan" power dynamic, but I think something worth considering is that trends in social networking have encouraged more and more obsessive behaviors among people. Look at people who idolize YouTubers and streamers, who come to believe these entertainers are their "friend" because they make daily content that feels like casual "shooting the shit with your buddies" content. Yet, that relationship doesn't actually exist. A content creator is just making stuff and putting it out there, often not having personal relationships with most of the people consuming it. And stuff like social media only exacerbates that, because it makes it so easy to potentially have fleeting interactions with a celebrity. But again, to a celebrity, any given interaction that way is a dime a dozen. Them replying to your tweet doesn't mean that you're now best friends with them. Yet people on the other side of that will act like they've been graced by god himself. I don't really think it's any given celebrity's fault for these kinds of things.
