Didn't george die in custody after the knee incident? For anybody who thinks the cop is going down for murder you better brace yourselves

He died while Derek Chauvin had his knees on George Floyd's neck and back. EMTs arrived on the scene and found that George Floyd had no pulse while Derek Chauvin was still kneeling on his neck.

I still dont understand the difference between this.

Is it just the amount of negligence?
Basically the difference is intent. Third degree murder means that you maliciously made a choice to endanger someone else's life. So it has to go beyond negligence.

Manslaughter would be where you thought the amount of force was necessary as self defense or to protect others or that you didn't realize the level of danger you were putting the other person in. You were responsible but the other person died due to something like poor judgment or negligence.

Because intent is so hard to prove, third degree murder convictions are rare if you have a good lawyer. I think Chauvin for sure deserves a murder conviction but I'm realistic enough that I will settle for a strong manslaughter conviction.

... Of course I'm cynical enough to think we probably won't even get that. Either he'll be found innocent or he'll plea bargain down to something like six months probation.

By the way... For them saying this is a closed book and chauvin definitely walks..

An independent autopsy ordered by George Floyd's family found his death was a "homicide caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain,"

the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office released its initial findings of their autopsy and also declared Floyd's death was a homicide caused by "a cardiopulmonary arrest whilebeing restrained by law enforcement officer(s)."

So both autopsy said the cause of death was homicide

Yeah I'm sad to say I think there is a very serious chance, I'd say 79% that he's found not guilty under the defense of "Just doing his job " or "Actually it was the drug use that killed him!"

It sucks but just look at the tens of millions supporting him and the way courts protect cops

Its scary

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Third degree murder is also known as voluntary manslaughter in some legal systems and second degree manslaughter is involuntary manslaughter.

But MN law lets you down convict anyway so really The only real charge is 2nd degree murder and the other options are downgrades from 2nd degree murder.

It's a different era now. People are far more radicalized and far less willing to accept the results of an insufficient legal system. People are at the point where if the government doesn't do what it's supposed to, then they're going to take control and make it happen.

There's a lot more regular people than corrupt politicians. People can rise up, and will if shit doesn't get fixed. America is heading towards a lot worse than broken windows and fires being set if things don't get fixed, and there will be blood in the streets.

We can't

only way to change is for mass activism from the masses

But (In the US at least) about 150 million people dont care

And 70 million actively support injustice

So we're fucked

Its like lovecraftian horror, we can resist and try all we like, maybe make some improvements and buy some time but it is all ultimately futile

They'll be harmed. They aren't safe. We've seen even in congress they aren't safe, but people know their addresses, people can find them in public, and it's incredibly easy to get a gun. I'm not calling for or even hoping for it, I hope it gets fixed before it gets to there, but it's not looking likely. Republicans are signing their own, and thousands of others', death warrants.

The cops in this case started escalating things right away. I mean that other dirty cop as soon as he went up to Floyd's car window he pulled out his gun and shoved it in Floyd's face and at the same time yelling a bunch of vulgar stuff at Floyd. For a fake 20 dollar bill this never should have happened. Only if someone was doing a shooting spree and the cops caught up to him in the vehicle

I don't see how in the fuck Philando Castille was illegally profiled and almost immediately shot to death in front of his family for absolutely no reason and his murderer walked, but....he did.

Oh that's right, MN is liberal on everything EXCEPT pot, and after slicing Philando up to determine he did in fact die from the 9 bullets put in him at point blank range (again, for absolutely no reason at all) they found pot in his system. The pig that murdered him then changed his story to "I smelled pot and feared for my life" and that was good enough for 12 racist fuckwits to say "yeah ok" and set the precedent that if you have narcotics in your system in MN, your life is forfeit and pigs can execute you in front of your family for absolutely no reason.

He's going to walk.

Also, did they ever confirm that the $20 bill he used was actually counterfeit?

Its insignificant to his death but there was counterfeit currency in his car so it most likely was. The officers did not check the currency at the time and went straight after the suspect. Then killed him. Even if the currency was verified to be counterfeit prior to arrest there was no need to kneel on his neck like that and murder him.

I'm not asking because it has significance in the trial. If they never confirmed whether the $20 was fake or not, then it kinda goes along he lines of people calling the police on black people for any reason they want to dream up. This has happened to me a couple times and it gets old.

True, it'd sucked if that was the case but overall that's I don't think it's something they'll focus on.
