Step Brothers is the definition of a movie that wasn't made for critics.

I liked Step Brothers but like most comedies you have to be in a certain demographic to find it enjoyable at all. Like a lot of comedies really. Especially when they're focused on stupidity.

I think it's a tad overrated. It still has plenty of funny parts in it though.

I feel a lot of the great comedies from around that era (late 00s-10s) are overrated. That, Superbad, Pineapple Express, The Hangover, etc. didn't do that much for me. It's all subjective though. There are people out there who don't like my favorite comedy movies too.

Yeah, I didn't care for it much back when I saw it in theaters. Watched it again some time in the past couple years because a friend was raving about it, still just thought it was okay. A few good quotes, nothing special.

It is a terrible movie structurally. The first 3 quarters of it is hilarious, but doesn't mean it is necessarily a high quality movie. Plus most of it is high tier subtlety masked in obvious dumb comedy that most audiences couldn't really appreciate. Basically non-obvious satire, which is why satire movies have to be so obvious due to how stupid most audiences are.

I enjoy stupid low brow comedies me and my friends could recite lines from so I loved Step Brothers

And I especially loved all those Judd Apatow/Will Ferrel/Seth Rogan movies from the 2000s. They're not exactly high art but I love the stupidity of them

Yes, because the movie is absolute trash. It's fun to watch, but it's like watching a fairy tale where an idiot grows up to be a big idiot, but also gets the girl in the end.
