Except none of it exists dude. Every religion is a carbon copy of the first group who worshipped the sun. Everything, EVERYTHING is modelled after that. Crown of thorns. 3 Kings. blah blah

The entire world and a good portion of you have been HAD for your entire lives and are gona be surprised when you die, everything goes black and none of this evangelical shit ever mattered.

It certainly hasn't made most of the world into better people.

I mean, even ignoring the "all religion is evil/for control" angle, Hell doesn't make sense even within the realms of christian doctrine.

I mean, Hell is straight up the most ludicrously overblown punishment imaginable. Eternity is a fuckin long time. Infinite time. after trillions of years, its not done.

There is no crime, or group of crimes, that warrants the worst suffering conceivable by all intelligence in the universe, for that length of time. Certainly nothing any single man could accomplish in one lifetime. Even if you were to take a genocidal madman, who wiped out all life in the known universe, and go full eye-for-an-eye (or worse) and sentence him to suffer proportionately to everyone he destroyed, or even for the duration of the lives he prematurely snuffed out, served back-to-back... eternity STILL keeps going. The crime STILL isn't big enough to fit the punishment. Eternity in hell is ridiculously overblown.

And if a bunch of drunk bozos in a Philadelphia bar can conclude that cruel and unusual punishment is a bad thing, surely a Supreme deity of love and mercy could, as well.

Unless of course God is evil (inb4), in which case, whats the fuckin point in worrying anyway? screwed either way.

then there's the whole shtick about the Bible never mentioning it (only a "lake of fire" for licifer and his followers at the tail end of revelations), and the fact that Dante basically invented it (and populated it almost exclusively with people he personally didn't like; its actually hilarious), and... yeah.

Nowadays, what with the modern Satanism and TST and stuff, God pretty much has become "the evil one" whereas Satanism has taken on all the morality, compassion and empathy that, while growing up, people teach you the popular religions are supposed to be.

I've always looked at the bible like this:

The old testament was invented to drive fear into the heart of man. Once that started failing, they invented the New testament to give people hope.

he says
if you have heaven as a place where youre rewarded for your goodness and hell as a place where you are punished for your evil, then you sort of have control of the population.

But like some other pointed out , Sheol, Gehenna the lake of fire are all mentioned in the bible

the church doesnt like for people to grow up, because you cant control grown ups, that why we talk about being born again, when your born again youre still a child, people dont need to be born again, they need to grow up, then need to accept their responsibility for themselves and the world

Jesus speaks of this also in the bible

so this priest is really just a person who has rejected his faith and thats nothing new, there are plenty of people who have left the faith after many years of living for God.

Im not going to question Gods choices that go beyond the universe.

If something happens to humans after they die, that is inherently beyond the realm of science and must be a direct choice of God. So whatever they are they must be correct, right? If God is perfect, then his decisions must be perfect even if they are beyond human understanding.

If there is indeed an afterlife, it doesnt matter what we think about any of it. Whatever happens to is will happen presumably based on the way we lived our lives. If the most fundamental religious people are right that sucks for a lot of us.

All we can do to humans is live good lives and hope for the best. God says he is merciful, so that should work in favor of humanity. Everyone makes mistakes and can do bad things thinking they are doing good things (for example, choosing to worship the wrong god/religion after doing loads of research but just making an incorrect decision).

what if , on the day of our death , God asks every person who comes before him before their judgement this question:
do you want to be with me or do you want to be separated from me?
do you think some people would choose to be separated from God?

The lake of fire is explicitly for specific beings who cant die. Regular humans can and do die. Everlasting life was denied to humanity as punishment, but can be restored via Jesus. Sinners and other folks who reject him will just truly die.

Hell as a place sinners go to is absolutely an invention of people.

Everyone in this topic ignoring that hell (i.e. eternal damnation) is explicitly mentioned many times in the Quran.

I dont think there is a way to interpret there being no actual hell from that.

James 3:6
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Psalms 16:10
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Matthew 5: 22B
Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire

Matthew 23:33
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

New Testament mentions Hell 162 while the Old Testament has it 31 times.

I don't remember where I heard this, but heaven is when your soul is with God, and hell is your soul being is alone, isolated, far away from God. And Hell as we know it, fire, brimstone the whole 9 yards, is something that was made up because life was once so short and painful, that they had to dress it up to make it seem undesirable to people.

And that the Christian interpretation of "hell" essentially came from looking at translations rather than the original text.
A lot of what Christians think Christianity is about is from translations of translations of translations, and when you look at the original text you find out it didnt say any of that. Also things that were just outright added later because the church needed to control a narrative.
