Mechanical Skill would be your actual ability to play a game. The ease of landing headshots, dodge-rolling during attacks, reading enemy movements, etc
Mechanics Knowledge would be like your theoretical knowledge of things like frame data in fighting games, type matchups, buff/debuff effects, etc.
Lore/Story Knowledge is just that, how much you know about character backstories, settings history, and random things like that.

If you kinda vary on this from game to game, pick a game and plot it!
(You don't actually have to use the graph, you can just explain where you'd fall.)

Black = Hearts of Iron 4
Gray = Civilization 6
Red = Shogun 2: Total War
Orange = Fight Night Round 4
Dark Red = Madden 17
Yellow = MLB The Show 20
Green = Legend of Zelda: LTTP

Strategy games it was hard to decide between the two mechanics and mechanical. I ended up going with more what % of the games mechanics can I explain and utilize efficiently. Like getting a +8 adjacency on Civ 6 or in HOI IV like knowing best time to use the different doctrines, using well thought out builds for each one, being able to pull off large encirclements against IA regardless of who you start as, stuff like.

A game like Shogun 2 I understand the basics of why things work as they do and how to use them, I can take the occasional difficult start and unify Japan, but I'm more comfortable on easy / normal starts.

Fight Night I am trying to figure out more of the mechanics, so far I can just do it sometimes.

Sports games I don't follow the mechanics at all really.

Zelda the story is more part of the experience, still not super important, mostly still about doing stuff, but I sort of understand how some of the mechanics work.
