Current Events > Super Mario RPG is my #1 game of all time, but man is it unbalanced as FUCK!

I love the game to death but there are some serious balance issues with it >_> I'm just gonna list them all out

-There are tons of equipment that raise your physical attack but almost nothing that raises your magic attack, so by the end of the game, your regular attacks are usually doing more damage than your special attacks and thus there is almost no reason to use single target special attacks.

-Bowser is supposed to be the "power house" of the party and joins with fantastic stats and high attack, but his stat growth is terrible! So by the end of the game, all his stats are some of the lowest out of everyone and his attack stat is outclassed by the fucking mage of the party. Plus all his equipment is awful too. His best weapon only gives him +40 while everyone else's gives +70-90.

-In the very first town, there is a full revive item that you can buy for 5 coins, while full heal items cost like 40 coins at the end of the game. So its way cheaper to just have everyone go balls out and attack until they die and then just revive them with a super cheap item >_>

-Peach joins with a spell that heals the entire party to near max HP and heals all their status ailments for almost no MP cost, so it's easy to just spam that if youre too cheap to even buy those full heal items lol

-Geno gets a spell that literally raises all your stats by 50% for the entire fight and that also costs almost no MP too >_>

Even though though the game is piss easy cuz of these, I still love it and highly recommend it! I also can't wait for Geno to be in Smash! Gotta believe!!

Still need to finish this game. Think I've recruited Bowser and Peach and got 4 or 5 of the stars. Recently finished Legend of Dragoon, so might move on to this next.

It's an over-rated game. I loved it as a kid when I was first getting into RPGs, but when I tried to re-play it as an adult it was pretty meh.

And it's not just a case of me getting older because I still really enjoy other SNES RPGs

I never understood the love for that game. I play it and it was seriously underwhelming. I got to the part where you get Geno or Mallow, whichever you get second, I forget.

I thought Paper Mario was so much better

idk, but definitely not on my smartphone at work. Nope. Definitely impossible to play it there, even though it's really really convenient on an emulator on a smartphone >_>

Don't forget that the best attack special is the one you start with, since it gets stronger by being used while remaining dirt cheap.

Getting 100 super jumps is way harder than anything in the game and gives you broken af armor which you dont need at all.

Culex is the strongest enemy in the game yet lazy shell effectively makes him a joke.

Magic is better than Attacks for, I think, literally the entire game. Jump outscales attack for the whole game, though that requires some arcane knowledge. Super Jump is obviously OP, Ultra Jump is strong for the time you get it. Mallow is great small fights with Thunderbolt and his later spells clean up bosses. Even Bowser has useful spells for a tiny bit...
Don't buy syrups, instead hold onto tabs since they fully restore your MP. Have Mario spam Jump whenever he can, it gains power every 2 times you use it. You certainly don't need to make the game even easier, but spells are good if you use them.

There are some hard hacks and rebalance hacks that are really fun. There's a randomizer, but it's kinda weird. There's also a big glitch that lets you get spells from different characters - Mallow can get Geno Boost, Peach can get Shocker, etc.

Ahhh I loved this game. The super long, I mean me as Bowser, last man standing against Culex, he's last man standing and we're just hitting each other for 1 damage till I fall sigh......epic.

The game is super easy. Hardest thing about the game is getting all the Frog coins and the minigames are hard as fuck now too.

I started a randomized SMRPG game recently and got the Attack Scarf from an item box in Mushroom Way. That was pretty cool. I never even attempted doing 30 jumps when I played it for the first time a few years ago. 100 would be impossible I'm sure.

I remember when I got this game as a kid. I got stuck on that first purple crocodile boss. Granted, this was my first RPG. But I made up for it by zipping through the whole game many years later.

It's not the best RPG but its one of the few that I've actually beaten.

I love the prerendered art style. It gives the game a dated feel that I actually think is cool.

The music is pretty good too.

I think they intentionally broke the balance of the game to try to make it easier for kids. Still fun though.

Love the fact that with the Lazy Shell defensive item you're pretty much invincible, lol. I've never beaten Culex without that strat of giving it to Peach so your healer's always alive.

It was worked by the same company that would later have you dodge 200 lightning bolts.

Not saying I did it in one go mind you. It did take several tries every play through. I grind to level 6 before fighting croco and go from there.

O. M. G. I just remember Save States are a thing on Wii U. I'm finally gonna hit 100 jumps after all these years!!

Technically, getting to 100 jumps isn't as hard as most people think, if you're playing on original hardware, which no one does anymore, except maybe speedrunners.

I've never gotten to 100 before, but it feels like getting the attack scarf was way easier as a kid on a SNES than as an adult on an emulator.
