I mean... even people who loved it tend to feel like it couldve been paced better. I dont think thats changing anyones opinion on the overall game.

It's awful in a sense that it doesn't even cover 10% of the whole story, however I'm willing to give it a pass since it was a well made game in general.

I loved the start, but I knew I was gonna have problems with its padding as soon as Tifa told Cloud that they had to sell water filters around town, and then when the Harry Potter ghosts came out I knew I wasn't feeling it. I am interested in how the story plays out in the sequels, but definitely not gonna shell out $60 for each of them or if I even wanna invest anymore time in these games.

Cash grabbing shit, this is worse than microtransactions at least we can choose to buy it to add to the experience but with this they're just stretching the game out more and milking it more

All the effort they put into making up new terrible crap could have been spent elsewhere.

And every single new character was terrible. The stupid anime motorcycle dude was the worst.

There were time when it felt too much like FFXIII(walk forward, cutscenes, fight, repeat). Other than those game was fantastic.

Also for people saying they love the game but hated the battle system.... what? How is that even possible in a JRPG? The whole practically revolves around the battle system. Managing characters, story bosses, equipment, etc.

It's like me watching someone play a game like bravely default 2 and they are running from battles all the time but they love the game. Clearly you don't enjoy the combat cause your always running way from mobs the gameplay loop isn't enjoyable to you.

i just started it and im absolutely impressed with the combat gameplay and design, especially coming from FF15. I could tell that they fixed all their mistakes from that game.

The mechanics are very well designed. The ATB meter is great to prevent abuse of items and magic while striking a fine balance of mashing X to attack and making decisions that require ATB.

Graphics are stunning, and i actually like the linearity of the game, which keeps the story pace moving quick.

Incorrect. Roche is the best and should have had more fights. Giving Cloud a Vergil was a great move, and he can be used to show Mako degradation and madness in the future.

Game was pretty great in general despite the pacing issues, and I love the plot ghosts just because of how much they piss people off.

The gameplay is fun for a squenix arpg, which are usually very bad.

The story goes from elaborating on the original and making characters more likable and interesting into braindamage-inducing kingdom hearts shit at the drop of a hat and ultimately made me entirely uninterested in anything else they do with the remakes in the future

Nah. If you can find the remake is awful you are definitely not a true ff7 of the original. Remake is the same game but with next gen graphics, and it makes every part of the story and areas you visit a bunch better than the original. Only down side it being a small portion of the game. Though if it was the full one it probably would be like 10 bluray discs. So stop hating and pretending to be a true ff7 fan. Cloud I love you!

I never finished it because I got so burnt out by the end. On my way to go infiltrate Shinra and rescue Aerith is when I stopped. And by that point normal battles were just taking way too long. Maybe I was just underleveled, I dont remember. But I did enjoy it for a while

Aren't sewer levels the lowest point of any game that has them? Not sure why this is surprising. I didn't like the sewers in the original and they were only a couple screens there.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game otherwise though.

The lowest point was the awful train graveyard they felt should be more than the original's two minutes.

Game was amazing and blew Midgar in the original out of the fucking water then shat on its corpse.

Only bad part was the obvious Nomura influence, but come on its not like the original story was some grand epic tale with no flaws.

For a game I went in crapping all over Square Enix for only giving Midgar, obvious story changes making it not FFVII

FFVIIR is one of my all time favourite games now. For as flawed and problematic as it is in a number of areas, it drew me in, reminded me why I liked and loved a lot of these characters, solid combat to give rise to thrilling boss battles, what I felt was a story/themes that have much more relevance today and it had me feel every emotion and I had the most wonderful experience playing it. The stars aligned and the game is just that special to me. Much like how the original is special to me.

I haven't played the full game yet. Probably will at some point if I run out of other things to play since I have it via PS Plus (just haven't downloaded it yet). I did play the demo though and, I can see the appeal, but it's not for me and it sure as fuck isn't FF7 outside of the story.

Granted, I realize not everyone interpreted it the same way, but I personally felt like the whispers represented, in a way, the toxic fanbase that was vehemently opposed to changing anything about the plot and it, weirdly, actually made me a lot more interested in trying to do just that.

the whispers are a really dumb, kitschy plot device that shows up in just about every long form story about time travel at least once, so if they represent fan resistance to story alteration while simultaneously being as cliche and stupid as they are, it would be the funniest self own in game writing history
