Wendy's had like 30 cups

Arby's had a 40 minute wait

All the BKs are closed but one, because they have only 5 people for 4 stores

The hell happened?

I work in social services and its been terrible as well in terms of lack of staff. My team has been at 5/7 case managers for months and getting services referred for and assigned has been taking longer and longer due to the waitlists with the lack of providers and personnel and the higher needs of the community at large due to how bad things have been.

Thing is, they don't give a fuck about workers or respect. As long as the black line goes up and they're a household name, they don't give a fuck how few people are running a store or how little they are paid. They'll just fire everyone or shut down a location if it starts hurting them. No skin off their back.

They aren't like small businesses where you have 1 or 2 locations and happy employees and good service literally keep your lights on.

Is it any wonder? Low wages, no benefits, unstable schedules, demanding customers, and the mental stress. People literally consider fast food workers as just burger flippers that are at the bottom of society. All that in a whole pandemic where half the country hasn't taken the virus seriously.

I work for Sbux. We cant keep good reliable workers because we start pay at $10/hr. Every McDonalds in the area is the same. You can go and get a job at Target or Costco for $15/hr and easier work. Same for most basic office jobs. It's just not a competitive pay rate.

Oh well, there's still Five Guys.

I don't understand people who see a long line at a fast food place and decide to actually join it.

Oh, and on top of that, if one person gets COVID (happens about once every 2 months per 10 people), we lose about half our staff for 1-2 weeks. We have "rescue rangers" who are guaranteed 40 hours of pay to stay off the schedule and cover needed stores, but they are always stretched thin.

I ALWAYS dined in. but that's not possible now.

You can't get unemployment for quitting. You are required to prove you are looking for work while on it. Anytime in the future they can bill you for part or most of the money back if they catch you breaking the rules. Max in my state is like $250 per week at the high end. Then the $300 federal PUA bonus many Republican states are refusing anyway.

I had to work at a Taco Bell that got shut down due to an employee murdering two others in the walk-in. Also have had disgruntled ex-employees threaten us.

The murder was down by Monterey, I went down to help open up the location/train people since our franchise bought it out. I was threatened by a tweaker ex-employee here, though.

fuck em. our labor force does not need to be forced into fast food work. this has been a problem for decades and if it naturally sloughs off because of policy changes, that's a good thing.
