today i was summoned to the family estate for my dad's birthday (yes the dad that recently had a stroke; he's still alive and well)

we decided on a restaurant next to my apartment and ordered a catered family meal so i went to pick it up

the manager there is an absolute stunning blonde girl (amazing ass for a white girl), we always flirt whenever i go in to pick up my orders

so i get to the family home, unpack everything and start to eat...and i realize the meat items (main course) have been omitted from our order

i look over everything at the table and it isnt there

so i have to call the restaurant and the manager answers and i tell her the issue, so she tells me they'll make a new one for me. so i then call my sister who hasn't arrived yet and tell her she has to go pick up the meat dishes on her way

this is where it gets terrible...the manager calls me back and says she talked to the kitchen and her staff and they guarantee 100% the meat dishes were included and that i should double check. i flat out tell her she's wrong and she sighs and says they'll remake it for me.

all this takes 45 minutes, of which my sister is waiting in her car outside the restaurant with her 2 young kids. they get so hungry, they eat a bunch of oranges (spoiler alert, it ruined their appetite for dinner). they wait so long my niece pees herself on accident

so they all arrive in a bad mood...and then we discover the meat dish was indeed actually originally included all along. what happened was, i had opened the veggies, and then someone had moved those off the main dining table so a closed box that was never opened was what i thought was veggies but in actuality the meat dish.

sigh now the hot manager will probably never wanna bang me

so my sister is in a terrible mood from having to go through the wait at the restaurant, my parents are in a terrible mood from having to deal with the restaurant and my niece is in a terrible mood from peeing herself

shortly later, my niece gets an awful stomach ache that eventually got so bad she had to go to the hospital....she had eaten too many oranges and the acid was giving her a bad tummy ache

and during all this, my sister's husband had gotten arrested so my sister had to deal with that during this too, but that's less important because at least i wasnt the source of that

yeah i feel terrible

Easy fix. Apologize in person, say you miscalculated and offer to make it up to her.

The restaurant wouldnt have let your niece inside the bathroom? Also, its not your fault that your sister let kids chow down on oranges. Everyone knows what happens if you eat too many oranges.

If everyone agreed on the restaurant and everyone was equally guilty of not noticing the meat, then nobody is to blame. I would also pay for the food if you like going there.

So, who moved the box with the meat dishes in the house? It'd be their fault.

EDIT: Oh, you didn't open all the boxes to check? Aww, man...

She peed herself on the way to the family estate not while waiting at the restaurant. Its a busy part of downtown so no parking, my sister was in the fire lane and they brought the food out to her

They just closed, I should have went in once I got home. I'll think about it and maybe go tmrw

No clue, my mom is a busy body who does that all the time and my dad just had a stroke and is super forgetful now. Could've even been me.

I had seen the veggies, so by process of elimination the closed box had to be veggies so I didn't open to check. Meanwhile the veggies were actually at a different table entirely blending in with some snacks/desserts

that's a separate long story, ill make it short:

my parents had fantastic jobs but since they grew up poor, they made us pretend like we were poor (i wasnt even given winter clothes because it cost too much money, i was always continuously sick as a child)

when i was 15, my mom in a mid life crisis decided to design her own massive home (it takes 3 lots), using my parents entire life savings including my college fund. the end result is hideous. i had to pay for college myself but they have a huge essentially mansion to the 2 of them. the place is a ghost town of loneliness and regrets

Haha, pretty similar with me. My parents came from poverty in a 3rd world country and were very frugal despite their income here in the USA. They taught me at a very young age that money meant pretty much everything.

I guess you could go back, pay for your food plus a hefty tip for the kitchen staff and be effusively apologetic. that's not being a Nice Guy ^TM. Most people find correcting an honest mistake appealing. That way you can go back and chat to your girl without mentioning it because she'll likely have heard about both the blunder and the correction. If she jokes about it you're in good graces.
