I just finished my completion binge on this show. I started on Season 3 because that's where I remember leaving off. Great show all the way though but I got annoyed by some of the later episodes when they'd retread the tired trope of extremely simple miscommunication leading to shenanigans.

I can already tell this leap day episode is going to be great

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world who actually loves this show from beginning to end and finds all 11 seasons great. I can't fathom the dislike that people say they have with it later on because this is one of the few shows that's been consistent in likability all throughout its run.

In fact sometimes it's even better in the later seasons because there's all this development between the characters and their dynamics, and the callbacks to previous jokes and stories are a special treat for long time fans.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that I'd describe as hate is Arvin and everything surrounding him and his relationship with Haley, such a slimeball wanna-be "nervous british hugh grant" nerdy type.

In fact, the more I think on it, even without the sadness of Andy's departure, Arvin is a terrible character in his own right, not just as a poor replacement for Andy. I have a theory that they put him in so that even Dylan doesn't seem so bad as a romantic interest for Haley.

The new baby telenovela ep is good

I'm on season 9 now and you can definitely tell they're starting to run out of ideas imo. They used a "phil has a health scare" story twice in rapid succession, thought that was weird

I cant watch shows when the kids become too awkward for their own good. The last few seasons were like that and I gave up. The beginning and middle years were solid sitcom years though.

I've been slowly rewatching them too, saw one last night and had a holy shit moment when I recognized Lin Manuel Miranda (Stella's original owner with the good/bad dog treats). Sadly my later hatred for Manny and Cam is persisting to the earlier seasons.

I liked pimento in small doses

Small doses is pretty much the perfect way to describe the actor. I liked insane perfumer Dennis Feinstein in Parks and Rec, but when they keep adding the dude in more shows and he drags down the entire episode with him. I wasn't crazy about his inclusion in the good place, his loud noisy comedy isn't what I like the schur shows for.

Similarly, his first stint as Pimento and the whole Rosa thing dragged that season down. But in smaller doses he's fine.

Modern Family is masterful at the wordplay/misunderstanding type of humor. Any of the couple episodes with Stephen Merchant are amazing examples of that.

I've seen people complain about Lily and her personality/acting but I've always been fond of her. Especially in the personality department.

Yeah, the actress definitely gets better as she gets older, I just don't feel like she ever gets to the point of good. I feel like having such an amazing cast around her makes it stand out a little more as an obvious weak point in most scenes that try to involve her beyond a single passing line.

I'll agree with that. Younger Lily is pretty bad with the acting, but with little kids like that (for a comedy, at least) I don't really dwell on it.

i watched it on tv for the fist 5 or so seasons back when i had cable. quit watching for years and started it up like 2? years ago. mainly just watch some here and there at work but on season 8 now. only decided to start watching again when i seen it was ending. always enjoyed it so wanted to see what happens.
