It was marketed crazy hard as the Halo Killer and even had some kind of contest where a winner won a room makeover with all this Advent Rising merch and decals plastered all over his bedroom and a bunch of cash. There was also some tie-in comics for the game's plot and even a book deal was in the works with the guy that wrote Ender's Game (tho I think it got cancelled) Then the game came out and it was super mediocre and bombed hard lol. But if you're playing the game locally with friends I can see people having fun since the hunters can set up ambushes together and the monster player can see the reactions of people they surprise. Only theorizing though. I think a similar thing happened to Titanfall.
