Under Minnesota law, the charges of --

  • 2nd-degree unintentional murder
  • 3rd-degree 'depraved mind' murder
  • 2nd-degree manslaughter
-- only requires Chauvin's acts were 'substantial causal FACTOR' in Floyd death.
NONE of those charges require that Chauvin INTENDED to kill Floyd. That is precisely why the jury decided so quickly, and nobody in their fucking right mind should have a problem with this verdict.

If you have a problem with this verdict, then blame the law itself, nothing else.

Otherwise, if you don't have a problem with the law, and STILL have a problem with the verdict, then you are either exposing your own racism towards the black community, OR you are completely biased in favor of a white-dominated police force.

If you respond, please choose your words carefully.

was he convicted on all charges? guy on the news yesterday made it sound as such, but i'm confused on how you convict someone for second and third degree murder for the same person. you'd think it would be one or the other, not both.

I think you convict on all charges, but only get sentenced to the most serious charge.

https://www.lawyers.com/legal-info/criminal/criminal-law-basics/how-do-multiple-convictions-affect-my-sentence.html

Prosecutors often charge defendants with two offenses, one of which is a lesser-included of the other. A lesser-included offense is one that is a necessary part of a larger, more serious crime. For example, someone who shoots another might be charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. In this instance, the assault is a lesser-included offense of murder because all of its elements (deliberate use of a deadly weapon against another) are part of a murder charge, too (of course, the murder charge is more serious in that it includes an intent to kill the victim).
When juries return verdicts of Guilty for two crimes, one of which is a lesser-included of the other, both convictions cannot stand. The judge will not enter a conviction for the lesser, only the greater crime. And, the defendant will not be sentenced on the lesser, either.

if you are going to shoot someone you'd have to prove it is in self defense. Why people who attack people with guns and get shot no one says boo about. Is it still murder? probably. But it's more a sign of the times why he was convicted. People had to push for it. Another time not so much.

The legal system is bought and paid for either way. It more shows how it is either way and unless you can buy a conviction or innocence you are most likely screwed.

What's crazy is if you try to defend yourself from a cop with a gun too. People have a right to protect themselves.

Fact is though people can say and do anything in this world including lawyers adn the police. It doesn't make it so and a lot of times what the truth seemingly is for a lot of people is what is bought and paid for.
