No. My phone has a built in call screener. If they think it's spam my phone will never ring. I'll just get a transcript of what the person said to the screener.

I like to mess with them sometimes, when I'm bored.

Every second they spend with me is a second they aren't spending scamming someone more vulnerable. A tiny victory, but every little bit helps.

And after years of working tech support in my younger days, my acting fools them pretty well. Kept one tied up for about two hours, once (I was just doing some household chores while leading the dude around in circles. Decent background entertainment)

Basically never. The only time I do is if I order takeout (Grubhub) because I might get a call from a random college kid with a different area code that needs directions or something.

I dont even answer random calls with area codes from my home state or my current state. If its a business call theyll leave a message and Ill call right back. If its a scammer they can just fuck off.

The great thing about my phone is that I bought it in my hometown years ago and Ive still got the same phone number. Ive moved out of that state since then, so I know whenever I get a phone call from my old area code (because scammers will use your phones area code) then its a call from a scammer/telemarketer.

If you switch phones then get an out of state area code. If Verizon or whoever wont let you choose a far off area code then drive two hours away to a different store. Its absolutely worth it.

Nah. If it's important they can leave a voice-mail or a text telling me who they are and what they want, otherwise I just assume it's spam. I used to abide by the area code thing too but I got a lot of spam using my local area code as well so I dropped that practice.

My phone number doesn't match the area code from where I moved to

So anybody who calls me from my phone's area code is just pretending to know me -- a scammer. I block numbers from my area code except for my family members.

same. don't ever leave your info online with an online college. i was getting legit 30+ calls a day from a couple. afterwards i realized a lot weren't really accredited so backed out of looking at them but they kept calling. i think 1 legit called for a year before they finally stopped.

99% of the time i ignore the call and usually they don't leave a message. a few that do are obvious scams. only time i answer is if i'm waiting for a call back from a place.
