Bingo. Exactly why the Left hates crypto so much.

And it's such a blind hate too. There's no consideration for how to change it so that it's not so environmentally detrimental it's just "THIS IS EVIL AND MUST BE BANNED" because I swear to god these people are not capable of competing thought processes.

The amount of wealth a rich person who can afford millions of dollars of energy and your average crypto day trader can generate is not the same.

You don't understand the situation at all.

You don't have to be an average crypto day trader to spot an alt-coin that can boost your wealth and take advantage of it.

If you lot are able to get crypto crippled, you take that capability away for so many.

Thats cool dude, how and why do you think regulation to reduce power usage is going to stop alt coins?

Youre so defensive of crypto you arent even connecting the cause and effect here.

Bitcoin artificially increases the amount of work it takes to mine blocks over time, thereby increasing the amount of power it requires. Its Bitcoin and the proof of work coins that are the issue, not proof of stake or day trading altcoins.

But we're a long way from that being the norm and having mass adoption. Bitcoin is still the king for now and probably forever.

Thats how it is now because most coins are tied to the value of BTC as their index, but I suspect if Bitcoin crumbles due to regulation (which I actually think is impossible btw, its a whole different discussion but I think BTC will persist even after/if mining energy consumption is regulated), that just means the altcoins will find a new reserve currency equivalent.

ExTha, you are being dumb in your defense of bitcoin.

Because it isnt' all crypto, but rather bitcoin specifically that is being vilified for it's energy usage.

And you of all people should realize that bitcoin (by design) uses WAYYYYYY more energy than it needs to for the purpose of verifying transactions. There are countless other tokens that either use proof of stake or use a much more efficient proof of work and require far less energy.

And the "ability of the common man to make money" is not because it is this inherently noble thing, but because it's a volatile market that is prone to large sudden gains.

.

.

Now as someone who IS concerned for the environment I'm choosing to be hopeful that the confrontation between crypto supporters and people concerned about energy will result in crytpo supporters choosing to invest in renewable energy reform so they can have their cake and provide it's energy too.

But your reaction is just the pointless gnashing of teeth and blindly ignoring the actual details of the situation. And it IS a situation regardless of how you propose bitcoin energy costs be addressed the fact is that at some point it must be.

And I'd love to invest in renewable energy. I'm not opposed to that at all. I'm trying to figure out how to get solar panels on the roof of my house here soon.

I just seriously bristle at the opposition to Bitcoin I see in these topics.

Bitcoin is to cryptocurrencies like when you are making pancakes. It was the first one and it didn't quite cook or flip right and came out lopsided and fucked up. But by the second and third pancakes you've got it figured out and they much superior to the first.

"Yes, bitcoin is not energy efficient, particular compared to other tokens. But there are solutions that do not involve banning it and I believe we should focus on those. In the mean time there are many other tokens that we can focus on and cryptocurrency as a whole does not need to be banned or unfairly regulated because of one single inefficient coin"

Just copy and paste that then.

Regular people cant actually drop money on a mining rig and actually move somewhere where they can generate more than peanuts over their electricity costs.

Bitcoin is still just the rich getting richer and lining the pockets of China.

Listen if we can work together to make it so Bitcoin doesn't control the entire crypto market I'd be down to have that conversation, but the conversation you all seem to want to have (FD excluded) is how to shut down the entire industry with regulation, and that I am not having.

And there are more ways to make money with Bitcoin/crypto than by mining.

I wouldn't mind losing money if there were legitimate reasons behind it. Like say it came out that Charles Hoskinson was a violent murderer and ADA tanked today, I'd be like "welp"

But losing money because some braindead eco-fascists got crypto regulated to death would be unacceptable.

Bitcoin 20 IQ lmao, I wish

A few years ago I worked as a PC techinician in a company, and sometimes when we had to move a lot of hardware we would call a outsource company to give us manpower to help with this
So they basically gave us people that are close to jobless, sitting in their home for the whole week until someone needs them, and then they come to do some shitty job
One of them was a super weirdo freak, he was kinda stupid and totally socially awkward. Talked with people that didn't want to talk with him and stuff like that.
And the thing he was talking about the most? Bitcoin. He bought a lot of them back then (back when it was $200ish) and he couldn't shut the hell up about it.
We all though he was out of his mind

I don't know what he did with them, maybe he sold them all when they reached $1000 or maybe he is all holding to this day
I just know that sometimes a success in the stock (and crypto) market has nothing to do with IQ :|

It's not that hard to make money, a megaton of it, off week long holds. Not to mention the "lowest IQ" stuff all being crypto is laughable

If it's going by statistics, well, at least it nailed selling covered calls as the easiest strategy
