I have a problem with the fact it even has to jump through that hoop.

Marijuana should just be legal like booze. The fact it has to like prove itself as medicine first is so frustrating when alcohol nor tobacco had to do that.

i don't think D_U is saying medical acceptance is a prerequisite to recreational use. just that, bare minimum, medical should be legal

Much more than the other two marijuana is a medicine though.

So again it should at least be legal for medical reasons. If opioids are legal for medical use there is no reason why marijuana shouldnt be.

They are correct, however really it should just be legal and regulated like booze.

Making it only for medical use is dumb though because for every person who actually needs it you have a handful of people clogging up the doctors office just because they want to enjoy some weed.

Your buddy gets sick, and prescribed medical marijuana.

One day he is over and starts smoking his medicinal weed.

You ask to take a hit.

He responds with NO dude, thats ILLEGAL! I can smoke this because Im sick!

Like fucking what? If its ok for sick people to smoke all adults should be able to smoke it its not like its some lab made chemical its a plant dude like cmon

I don't care if people smoke and grow it or not. I mean, its no better or worse then smoking cigarettes recreationally. And if I were to take it back up, I would sooner trust buying it from the people who have been smoking and selling it a long time, then I would government grown shit.

Given that there's no link whatsoever thats been established between marijuana use and lung cancer, and given how incredibly addictive nicotine is, I'd say one is definitely worse. And thats tobacco.

I mean I agree that it should be fully legal but im not sure that's the best example.

When I had surgery I got morphine, fentanyl, and oxy contin for pain and while I'm for decriminalization of all drugs I dont think that just because I had prescription fentanyl that a friend should have been allowed to use it when healthy.

Anyway, its already legalized in my state, and I smell it when I go out, so they're taking advantage. Dunno if every strain is legal, or if only certain kinds are? People are smoking a lot of skunk. You'd think it'd be some of the better stuff.

I'm sure it wouldn't be strain dependant.

Cbd is legal in some areas where thc strains aren't but thats a much more significant and meaningful distinction than just being one strain or another since thc is the active ingredient.

Pot is nowhere near as dangerous as actual hard drugs, so I don't why it wasn't legalized long before this? I can understand people not wanting to legalize the harder stuff, now that I'm older and a little more mature. But since I've had my fun wild days, I can't say I'm super against it. That'd be a bit hypocrital.

i've never heard about only certain strains being legal. some states might have restrictions on THC %, but i don't think i've ever seen that.

Tbf opiates come from a plant too. You could argue that processing that into opium or opium derivatives changes the whole thing, but weed was never naturally even 1/10th as potent as what it is today.

Maybe I'm nitpicking. I dont know i don't mean to come across as argumentative. Just my thoughts.

Then there's shatter and live resin and gas diamonds and wax etc... which require processing the bud as well.

It was originally criminalized because of racism (politicians used it to drum up anti-immigration sentiment, others used it to demonize black Americans) and also because William Randolph Hearst wanted his paper-producing companies to control the market. Its a rich mans world.
