Current Events > Starting a new job today.

It's a front of the house base level job at a new restaurant in town.
Only a food runner, but that is how I wanted to start.
Learn the system from the ground up.

I am cautiously optimistic about this.

Just gotta dive in and see what happens!!

Be nice to the dishwashers they have shit rough. They tend to get stuck with any job that is part of someone elses job they just dont feel like doing because managment doesnt care it just needs done.

Yes, but it's been a while.
I did work a Casino floor for 8 years, so I've seen a lot.
Once I get traction I think I'll be fine.

Ya, Dishwasher were alway chill. I don't look down on people like that.

And to your point Pus'N'Boots, I know what you mean...but having said that it will the first job I've had in about a decade that doesn't deal almost exclusively with addiction. That alone should be a good thing. Also the coworkers seemed pretty good. Its a new place so there shouldn't be too much of that...I've been here forever so I can treat people like shit thing.

Okay so here is my story.

So I went down there got in there and was starting to get over the weirdness of it, and began getting intrigued and kinda liking the vibe. Anyway I went to the bathroom and of course checked my phone.

Welp I got a message and a call from my manager at my other job. It turns out, I wasn't supposed to make the transition until next week.

So, I'm sitting there like, Fuck Meee...
I think well I have to tell my new boss about this and see what to do.
She tell me to try and get a hold of them, and shows me to the break room to call or text.
I never really got a hold of him the way I wanted.

While that is all going on it turns out the health inspector showed up.
So she was totally caught up with that.

So there I am sitting there in a little event room, and one of their distributors shows up...one that goes to my other place. He needed an invoice and check from her, and she had no time. He's and I were just like 'this is great' I even joked with him, if he would give me a ride to my other job...it an 8 min walk away.

Long story short, when she did have a second, almost literally...we decided to just set the start date back, and I should just go to my old job for now.

It was odd.
But I never really got in trouble or anything.

So, I'm basically joking that my new job is, A job so nice you start it twice!
~I start again Sunday.

Man I'm 32 got fired from my last job that paid $16 an hour and got an offer for cart pusher at a nearby wal mart. I just.... fucking hate my life I don't know what to do, don't want to be a financial burden. My anxiety is through the roof.

Hey man if it pays it pays, otherwise get into some other industries and try it out.. the time to try something new might be now considering your circumstances but its whatever

Only in America are you really shamed for what you do, in other parts of the world its like well a persons gotta eat and as long as they can provide for themselves then its all good

Ya, I can't begin to describe how I feel when I see people pulling up with shopping carts full of booze... whether shit liquor or decent wine. It's so easy to think, what do you do...do you just drink? Are you at that point? But then when they just put up the bottles, with no words spoken, fumbling over their masks and throwing down their card to pay.

It's not all like that, but there is just enough of it.
It's the same face I used to see at the Casino for eight years.
It's poisoning. But also I learned to look through that, but almost none of my coworkers have learned that.

I'm sick of being a drug dealer, I guess, would be a true, albeit raw, way of saying it.

I need to see a little more spark in someone's soul.

So, I went down and there was nothing going on, so there was nothing to learn.
I was asked to come back around 4:30.

So, in the meantime, I went to my old-old job and returned some cans....and basically printed some money.
~Got some discounted Guinness and shit beer plus some local beef jerky. Then went to a greenhouse and got my first wave of flowers..

Plus there is a Saab being sold across town that I am now interested in. >_>
Will I spend $1000 dollars on my break?!? IDK, but I could use that car right now.
I assume it would cost about as much to get my car road-worthy.
I might drive by it before I go back in.
