I find it weird that it's "first gun" and not just gun.
Im guessing he called it his "first gun" because its his first gun.

I just got a Beretta M96 in .40 S&W for my home defense pistol, havent owned a gun in about 7 years.

I do not, but I heavily considered this as I had seen on Youtube that its an immensely reliable pistol, I love the grip angle, and from the footage the handling seems to be of a superior grade.

My choices came down to the M96, the Steyr, and HK USP40; however, I was able to get the M96 the same day and I have been feeling kind of unsafe not owning anything for home defense except a knife.

Lol why .40 s&w? Dead caliber.

My boss loads his own ammo and has over 20,000 rounds of .40 s&w, hes gonna sell me a few thousand and just take it out of my paycheck so I have a way higher availability than most people and since its a defense gun I wanted the most stopping power without sacrificing handling.

Sig Sauer p320 m17

Partly home defense, mostly for target shooting. Now I just have a ~3 week wait for the background check lol

3 weeks for a background check? You need to move to a free state...

But congrats, that is an excellent firearm and will outlive you if taken care of.

My first defense gun was a .44 magnum, and well, itd definitely do the trick if you a) didnt care about your hearing and b) didnt miss your first shot lol. Then for whatever reason I decided to get an FN Five Seven, and I loved that gun but for the five years I owned it I only ever managed to find 250 rounds and I was constantly looking like 4 times a week. I havent owned one in a while cuz I am really against gun violence, but its like, what am I gonna do if someone tries to do a violence to me? So it was time to get another one. I think everyone should have one.

Never heard of a Cougar 40, but the Berettas feel really nice, I love the heft of it and they really are beautiful to boot. Great shooting too. I think realistically if I were to get another caliber Id go for the M&P Shield in either 9mm or .380

Beretta Cougar is a slightly smaller pistol, using a rotating bolt to cycle instead of the locking block of the 92/96. If you've ever watched "the Shield" on tv, the guns the guys carried ( except Mackey's 4506) were Cougars. The PX4 is the evolution of the Cougar (same gun with poly frame).

I used to have a Shield 9, I sold it to one of my friends when he had a break-in and bought a Springfield XDS 9mm. I like the trigger a little bit better on the XDS, but I really want a Shield Plus now that they have flat triggers and 10+1/13+1 capacity. If I were you I'd def fuck with one of those

I have like 10 handguns, really I wish I woulda bought like 3 and trained more with them, but oh well. I'm really wanting a AR pistol for home defense but dang they are loud, maybe one day I'll get a suppressor.

My first handgun wasn't a handgun, it was a Tavor X95. I don't own any weapons for self defense, they are all just for shooting in my backyard.

40 is a perfectly serviceable caliber, especially right now. Since you can find it for a fair price. I see a million 9mm scalpers compared to a 40SW scalper.
