like, it's better for cats, overall, to be indoor pets, but I admire anyone who can train their cat to be leashed and walk it.

dogs should definitely be walked, though.

I mean, my indoor cat gets to venture out when I walk the dog. He doesn't do much other than eat grass then vomit it on the rug, though. So now we don't let him do that.

Coyotes attacked one of my dogs which had to be put down, and many neighbors have been losing pets most likely too them so it isnt safe for them outside.

After having 3 cats run over growing up, all my cats are indoor cats.

Edit: and have one cat have multiple abscesses from fighting with other neighbourhood cats lanced by a vet...

Coyotes will often pretend to play with domesticated dogs and coax them out to secluded areas before the coyote pack turns on the dog and kill it.

My sisters dog Penny only goes out side to shit or piss. Its too small and is legitmately at risk to be carried off by hawks or turkey vultures.

I train dogs as a hobby. They need interaction with as many outside elements as possible for them to be "well trained". Keeping them inside all the time (aside from from the occasional back yard trip) actually harms their perception of the world. They need to know how vast the world is.

True story, I had a really fat indoor cat that was lethargic all the time so I took it to the vet, the vet picks her up and stares into her eyes for a good two minutes then turns to me and says sorry , Im going to have to put her down
I was devastated, tears running down my cheeks I blubbered why why why, the vet looks at me in a reassuring way and cracks a wry smile and says this fat fucking cat is too heavy to hold

We take two of our outgoing cats outside in a stroller with a mesh top. They enjoy it. Sometimes we encourage them to hang out with us on a harness in the drive way. My oldest cat has always been very timid, skiddish, and hates the outside.

3 of our dogs love going outside. The other 3 prefer to be inside.
Our four cats have never been outside (we rescued them when they were two weeks old and hand-raised them).

My cat hates wearing her harness so even though I bring her outside she becomes dead weight 95% of the time before moving back to the door inside.

Which I don't fucking get cuz she clearly enjoys the sunshine

You should try and find a pet stroller. We got ours at pet Supermarket and it's great for our cats.

Really young puppies just stink. I dont know why but it goes away.

Unless of course youre referring to them having accidents. That of course requires a mop.

One of my cats has absolutely no interest in going outside. The other tries to bolt out whenever he can. Hes a jerk though, so he would pick the first fight he sees with any outside cat around here. Dude needs to stay inside.

We had cats that lived near the wooded area in one of my old homes. They were pretty friendly to me and discouraged rodents from coming around so we fed them. One night coming home, we found one of the kittens dead in the street with two of it's siblings mourning them.

I think he was making a joke about letting it piss and shit in the house because it never goes outside.

I get depressed if I don't get my dog out. Cause I start feeling like Im a shitty owner. His social circle shrunk in this pandemic liie everyone else's. Except he doesn't understand why. Sometimes he gets restless and walks around whining if we don't go anywhere for a long time. And I usually take him everywhere that's not an errand or business.

The last dog I had hated going for walks. We'd leash him up, walk out the front door, and if we were lucky we could get across the street before he slammed on the brakes and refused to take another step. He'd also go out back to pee, but would only barely step off the patio to do it. Then he headed right back to the door to be let in again. He was just much happier inside.

I have 9 dogs and a fairly big yard. They go out when they let me know they want to out, typically

5 cats, and theyre all inside. Outside cats tend to do numbers on the local ecosystem

I would of tried to get that last dog use to it. But I got no insight on how much you did. Maybe nothing worked. I can't imagine not being able to take my dog places. He's super boring inside anyway. He'll play for 3 minutes and then just come lay on me and not wanna do anything else. I take him to the cabin and he has energy for days.
