Is there such a thing as a Michigan accent?


I was searching for hair videos on YouTube and found the channel of a hot girl who talks about hair and makeup. She speaks with this most peculiar accent, and it turns out that she's from Michigan. I thought Michigan was part of the Midwest, and Midwesterners don't have an accent. If so, why does she have this thick accent that sounds nowhere close to neutral?

That is just a midwestern accent with basically that scandinavian (dontcha know) tone you see sometimes in states up in that are (great lakes + the dakotas).

Accents overall are being reduced everywhere. There are plenty of people in big cities in the deep south or Texas even that were born and raised there that speak with hardly any accent.

They seem to have a distinct accent that is derived from a whole bunch of different accents of the surrounding area.

Yep, I think so. Kind of a blend of Wisconsin with a touch of Boston and Canada. Hard to explain, but it's distinct to me.

Yes we do. And yes I do.

Though in the area I live, most everyone has a blaccent, when I go to a more "rural" area ot is strong
