She wasn't always like this, she used to be just sort of a "moon landing was fake" person, but since Trump this is how she's been. These people need to lose their job. Refuses the vax. Her employer is threatening to fire her. She believes every falsehood and gaslight talking point but none of the science. "It's experimental" (No), "It was rushed" (No), "It's not FDA Approved" (No), "It alters your DNA" (No). Then a bunch of libertarian bullshit. I just said to her, "you can't possibly believe that's true and you work with people who can explain why that's false better than I." Made an excuse to end the call. Two days later, got a text "not everyone who doesn't want the vaccine is bad, you know." I just don't know what to say to her in the face of such stupidity from someone I know, who should know better. I figure if she wants to remain a nurse she'll do it. She overcame a lot (some of it self-inflicted) to become a nurse. No responsible health facility will employ the unvaccinated. My partner is a vet surgeon and talks about this a lot. Nurses know how to do a lot of things but don't necessarily know why that thing is important or what the underlying biology/chemistry is. They just know "X milligrams of Y per lb of weight" or whatever. Good nurses are often just ones that have so much experience in a particular discipline that they know all the things off by heart. I visited often and was shocked at the number of nurses smoking in the parking lot. I mean no disrespect to nurses, but I think the public has ideals about the profession that not all of them live up to.
