I'm one of those old, jaded RE fans that can't let the original trilogy go and I view most of the newer games as different levels of poor production. I did think RE7 was decent though and a respectable attempt at a reboot. When the original trailer for Village was released, I thought it looked really silly and they were once again straying far from what Resident Evil used to be, therefore my expectations for the game was really low. I guess that helped though because I was admittedly blown away by how good Village was.

This topic was created on a whim so I don't have much else to say, I guess this could be an AMA? Feel free to comment on what you also thought about Village and let me know if you're an older or newer fan. I have a strong feeling that people will view the game differently if they were an RE fan for a few years compared to decades.

I thought the doll section of the game was a pretty good dash of survival horror from PT, and concepts from the cancelled Resident Evil 3.5 where Leon was fighting dolls and ghosts (before it was scrapped and RE4 was what came out)

I haven't played it but I did read the spoilers. How did you feel about the Ethan twist revealed in Village in reference to 7?

I will look back fondly on House Beneviento as one of the shining moments of Village for sure. I personally thought the random hallucinations of Mia walking around the house was creepier than the actual fetus, though the fetus absolutely deserves the reception it is getting.

I welcomed it, not only was it a viable explanation for the ridiculous physical feats that Ethan has, but it was truly written well and made me like Ethan more as a character.
