Yes, iirc. I tried Brave on my phone, but deleted it because Gamefaqs.gamespot.com didn't work on it for some reason.

I just use Adguard, seems to do the trick just fine

Yeah, you download it and it functions as an Adblock for Safari
I used to be unable to go on certain sites because of malware ads that just hijack your browser and take you away (like Bulbapedia), but I haven't had any such issues with Adguard installed (IIRC?)
