He'll be dead within a decade and his supporters won't move on to anyone else because the cult is entirely about him, no one else is good enough.

No, there are clearly people vying for the throne. Gaetz, Hawley, etc. Fortunately, most of them are just as inept in their own ways. But there will be someone who actually is smart, well spoken, and better at playing the long game.

Thats the exact problem: Trump is a lazy, incompetent moron incapable of seeing beyond his own needs, and yet, he came perilously close to getting tons of Congressional Representatives murdered.
This would seem to suggest our democracy is actually incredibly frail and you dont need to actually be smart to snap it like a twig: you just need to be somewhat smarter than Donald Trump.
