Yeah I love how people make the silly "practicality" argument when it comes to Female Armor. It's like you're in a world with magic, zombies and maybe dragons and other cosmic horrors I think practical armor is the least of your concerns.

I got nothing against hot characters but a lot of these outfits are just awful and look silly. Quiet from MGS 5 and Jessica from RE: Revelations just make me embarrased to play the games.

The leaders of the world are having important meetings about war when what looks like a 19 year old girl in a bikini with cleaveage you can ski down bursts in and starts talking dramatically about something... And it all immersion is lost.

Tidus in FFX can leap 60 feet into the air somehow and no one mentions it. That doesn't mean the game wouldn't be worse and stupid if he was wearing a rabbit costume. And going "WEll he can leap 60 feet!" wouldn't be a defense of it.

I'm kinda on the feminsts side on this one. OR best of both worlds, give us the option. Then everyone wins. Like in Dead Rising.

There are things that are objectively silly

Look at the alternate outfits in God of War and Dead Rising.

The girls outfits in a lot of these games are ridiculous, they look like strippers or half undressed and there's no logic or reasoning behind it

Samara from Mass Effect springs to mind. Hyper religious stoic super old lady ultimate warrior has her giant tits out, exposing all her vital organs for literally no reason

Then the camera zooms in on them while she's talking about murdering her daughter

It's just dumb.

i feel like there's a difference between 'suspension of disbelief for supernatural narrative elements' and 'suspension of disbelief that physics doesn't apply here without any indication of supernatural elements being involved'

i think even the most insecure boy can suspend his sexist bullshit belief system enough to believe women are capable of wearing full plate

and i think when something is explicitly magic, people can overlook more easily. "this would be useless but a spell made it useful" doesn't feel like nonsense

but nobody can suspend their belief in 'how really basic physics works' enough to think that not covering bare skin is a more effective defense than covering it

That's actually a stylistic choice for the world. But when all of the men are wearing practical, well designed armor and the women are running around in floppy titty armor it's blatantly obvious what's going on.

Im kind of in this camp. A lot of korean shooting games go this route where the guys are wearing practical military uniform while the woman are wearing short shorts and bikini tops. Either sexualize both genders or dont do it at all imo.
