I'm only playing 50cc but the controls seem to handle pretty well on the pro controller so far. And there's a whooping 12 cups? Did they include like, every racing track to date or something?

Best of all, it seems like the item system is much improved from the terrible Wii version? In the Wii Mario Kart, you'd constantly get hit by blue shell after blue shell, and the items you got when in first place where always like, 1 banana. Never anything convenient like a mushroom or item canceling horn or whatever, yet in Switch version they don't punish you for being in first place, you even get 3 green shell protection if you're lucky

Mario Kart DS basically remains my favorite to this day, but Mario Kart 8 might actually do it justice. There's a 200cc though, that seems next to impossible for now

MK7 (3DS) is still my favorite, but they brought the best track, Neo Bowser City, over to MK8.

Is it cheating if they have F-Zero tracks on there? I detected not one but 2, was very surprised to find a different franchise having its tracks in mario kart, they're very different racers.

Mine was like this. Left stick so I couldn't play a game that required precise movement like Binding of Isaac or Mario Kart. I finally got a new single JoyCon and man it was amazing having a working Switch again. Totally worth it.

They were part of the 4 DLC cups (for the WiiU version, in the Switch version everyone has them for free). The really egregious thing is they originally sold Baby Park as DLC. The course is just an oval ffs

btw, i bought an off brand controller on Amazon and im surprised at how well it plays, specially with MK 8.

even feels more comfortable than playing with the joycons attached to that dock thing...

this is easily fixable with a can of electrical cleaner. Your joycon just needs to be cleaned.

Double Dash is still my favorite, but MK 8 Deluxe practically ties with it. I said for awhile that if MK8 had the All-Cup Tour, it would have dethroned DD; but then someone finally explained to me how to access a mode in MK8 that essentially simulates it. I'm a man of my word, so from a more objective standpoint, MK 8 Deluxe has officially taken the crown.

So they gave 16 new race tracks in the Switch version for free?

MK8 is great but I think MK7 was better balanced

I don't like how Top Speed trumps Acceleration in MK8, being good at drifting was always the best in previous MK games and it made sense because it takes the most skill. But now the best loadout is the ones where you just drive straight and bump other cars out the way, it's kinda lame.

I mean I don't play handhelds period anymore (it's an age thing, it simply hurts my back and neck too much) so the Switch is purely a console for me. The pro is a must have and I dare say I like it even more than the classic controller pro of the Wii days. It handles pretty well so far.

if you haven't played the Wii u version, then yes easily the best in terms of track design and customization.

8 is generally considered the best, yes. It's certainly the best received MK game since 64.
