I went to 2 community colleges, a year each. <_<

Then I dropped out.

I think a laymans understanding in America is that a college is like... just up to a 4 year/Bachelor's Degree whereas a University offers Masters and PhDs.

Though in common lingo, they're used pretty interchangeably

It depends what country you're on about really. American's seem to tend to use College instead of University from what I've seen. In the UK college is usually (but not always) used for education from 16-18

As for the question, if we are on about degree's then 6 years

3 years for Geography degree
3 years for Nursing degree

I asked when I was in undergrad and was told that colleges specialize and that universities are homes to several colleges. So in the US, for instance, I went to a place that had a College of Arts and Humanities and a Business School and Journalism College all at the same University. But I use "college" and "university" pretty interchangeably in casual speech.

For my answer: 8+: 1 year parallel enrollment with community college in high school, 4 undergrad, 2 grad, 1+ (ongoing) for a technical certification now.

In total, 3.5, but really only 2 of those mean anything. 2 more to go, being an old student is a trip

Probably two. I wasnt getting anything done, and I really didnt even know what I wanted to major in, so I realized it wasnt for me.

The good thing about college is that you can always go back. Society pressures our generation into rushing into it and now there are so many people in debt with a job that has nothing to do with their degree. Theyre literally telling children to take out massive loans and decide on a whim what they want to do with the rest of their lives.

Im not bashing college, but its not the answer for everyone and sometimes you need to grow up a little bit before getting into it. I had TOPS or whatever its called, so I felt pressured into going right after 12th grade.

Then again, maybe my situation was uniquely bad. I was at a college where people basically acted like they were in reform school. People fought and caused trouble in class and the teachers basically taught on a third grade level (state college was too expensive so I went to a CC).

Most colleges are universities and
universities are just groups of colleges
