This is an absolute revelation. Anyone who wants to play their original hardware on an HDTV should absolutely do this.

Been thinking of giving modding an N64 a go at some point, the direct signal seems like the worst out of that error of consoles. Grabbed a Famicom Duo to RGB mod a while back but wanted to get a bit better at soldering before giving it a go so it's been collecting dust.

How was the install process?

Relatively easy if you're somewhat adept at soldering. I got voultar's mod chip for like $30 and it took maybe an hour.

The only thing is that you must get a component cable from Castlemania if you want it to really be worthwhile. But god damn does it look bright and crisp compared to the muddy trash that it natively outputs.

Am I the only one who thought it meant putting flashy lights into the case?

Oh nice, I've come across his videos a few times but didn't know he had his own chip. Time to look into that.

I was about to complain about the lack of pics, then I realized what I was about to do.

That's what I thought. I blame me being a PC gamer.

Honestly nothing short of emulation is going to look at good as playing on a CRT, but this mod at least approaches the quality for an HDTV. It's a must if you only have a single tv setup.
