https://www.fanbyte.com/news/rumor-square-enix-set-to-announce-a-new-action-rpg-final-fantasy-spinoff/

The rumor states that Square Enix is working with Team Ninja, Koei Tecmos in-house development team behind games like Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, and perhaps most relevantly the latest entry in the Final Fantasy fighting game series Dissidia NT. The posted rumors go on further by assigning the game a genre, something akin to Nioh or the Souls games, and suggesting it takes place somewhere in or adjacent to the world of the first Final Fantasy game on the NES.
Our sources have corroborated this rumor and suggest the name of the game is Final Fantasy Origin.
The game, which appears to be exclusive to PlayStation 5 with a PC release further down the road, will be one of Square Enixs tentpoles at their upcoming E3 show. For whatever reason, several large chunks of the undated June show have leaked out, including the Final Fantasy Origins logo and demo plans. Square Enix hopes to release an alpha demo this summer, not unlike Niohs public alphas, to solicit feedback from the audience while the game is still in a fairly early state. This demo, like several other major demos, has its own title of Stranger in Paradise.

Hmm... Well good to know they're thinking outside of the box. FF7Remake was great for me(gameplay) but that was after string of failures(not total) and missteps. Honestly hadn't been able to really dig my teeth into an FF game since X. I had a lot of fun with XV until I discovered combat was going to be a rinse/repeat and the magic system was totally weird.

It's interesting seeing Playstation being really aggressive with timed exclusive Final Fantasy. This will be the third one for PS5 already. I guess they still want to be known as the Final Fantasy console again.

They do have an advantage with Japanese games in this area since it probably doesn't cost them much to cover any potential loss in Xbox sales.

Possibly an action RPG version of Final Fantasy 1? Could be fun, especially with 6 different play styles at least.

This, especially when they say it might be Souls/Nioh inspired for gameplay. It could be really fun.

Not to mention the last time Team Ninja was trusted with a beloved IP was Metroid...

But still hopefully they don't fuck it up.

its an interesting idea, but with the mainline series being an action RPG at this point already I really am bummed out that all the side projects (FF7R) also being action RPGs instead of turn based.

Other M wasn't their fault, it had fine enough gameplay just the story sucked which was all Sakamoto's fault

I feel like the game would've been really fun if they weren't intentionally limited by Sakamoto. They had to make the gameplay with strictly a Wii Remote despite their protests.

I don't know what other influence they had, but I know the writing and story was completely on Sakamoto.
