doesn't matter to me.

in my culture, at least traditionally, there isn't a surname, and instead it's just two names, so no one in my immediate family shares the same last name.

I could go either way it's so common once you take it, you wouldn't be able to find yourself on google unless you were famous because there'd be too many other people with that same first/last name unless she had a unique first name.

That's a good question I actually never thought of this as a outcome.

It would depend on the relationship but this would be brought up immediately if she really had a problem with it otherwise it's a problem if she brings it up later.

It would have to be a pretty good reason.

Marriage is about commitment and sacrifice. If you don't to take my last name just because that's the first sign of a red flag.

I honestly couldn't care less about it being my last name, but I do think married couples having the same last name is a good practice. Dogmatically sticking to the importance of "family legacy" and all the nonsense can go away though.

It would make passing on a last name to our kids a lot easier. Unless odd kids take one of our names and even kids the other's. And don't even bring up hyphenating. If hyphenating surnames was the norm people'd be walking around with dozens, or many, many more last names. At a certain point you have to pick, so why create the situation to begin with.

So you dont like hyphened names

Lets say she doesnt want to take your name

in the interest of making it easier for your kids to have one name, would you take her name ?

Only if she owns more land than me. Serious answer: No. I'm keeping my name, if she wants to keep hers too, that's fine. We'd just have to figure something out for our kids.
